Do not provide much additional traction
I have an elderly giant breed dog (approximately 95-100 lbs). He's quite arthritic, and at the recommendation of my vet I ordered a set of these to see if they would provide him with additional traction on our tile floor. Please note that my experience may be somewhat biased, as he is larger than the size range for the XXL size ordered, the largest available. On arrival, the tips were slightly too small, but as exchanging them for a larger size was not an option, I decided to try them anyway. For that reason, my experience may not be typical. On the plus side, the sizing of the nail tips seemed uniform and the glue was easy to open, apply and hardened quickly. The tips (black) are fairly realistic looking. There was ample glue supplied (3 tubes). Based on one application of tips to all four paws, I estimate there would have been sufficient to replace all the tips at least three times. Remi is quite patient, and held still for me to stick each tip over a nail and hold it in place for a 5-10 seconds. I did end up with some glue residue on my fingernails - it is quite durable, as a week later it's still there.Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the nail tips. After roughly an hour, Remi went outside and walked around for a few minutes. When he came back in and laid down, one tip was missing. As of this review, 6 days after application, only one tip is still in place. At no time did I notice him chewing or licking his feet, and most of the tips I've found on his bed or on the floor somewhere. There is some glue residue on his nails, but the nail surface doesn't appear damaged. That said, I would not recommend the tips for additional traction. They seem mainly for cosmetic effect, although it's possible they would prevent marring of floor surfaces if that's a concern.

Surprise life changer for my lab
I thought I was purchasing this to protect my wood floors from my lab who is scared of the "slippery" wood floors. She would only go in straight lines from rug to rug. If she had to take a corner she would circle, bark and then eventually do this Bambi slide thing as she tried to use her claws to grip, which only makes her slip more. WELL, I put these on her and you wouldn't believe the change! They gave her wonderful grip and she immediately walked around as if the floors were carpet. As an added bonus, no scratches on the floors anymore. There is one that broke after the first day but I just need to improve my application technique because there was too much room in the tip. I wish I took a before and after video. If you have a dog that is nervous about hard floors or have an old dog who's back legs like to slide on them, I highly recommend this or similar product.

Infected paws
Where my dogs nails meet his skin is extremely inflamed on two or three of his toes. This is to the point where I am considering taking him to the vet. It looks very painful and I feel beyond guilty for putting these on him. Not worth the risk in my opinion. The superglue naturally wants to fill the space if it’s a snug fit. If the superglue has no where to go in the nail cap it naturally wants to come out of the top. This causes the hair to get caught up and glued to the nail and rubber nail cap and create a nasty mess. I’m a grown man and I’m sitting here tearing up because of how guilty of feel putting these on my dog. Don’t be like me, save yourself the guilt, and hassle of putting these things on your dog. I feel like I should have known better than to put superglue (what comes with this kit) on my dogs nails. It’s bound to get messy and I went against my better judgement because it seemed like other people had some success. If you love your pup and don’t want to possibly put them through stress and pain, I suggest you steer clear of these.

Perfect for my senior dog
Perfect for my senior dog. Makes her much more sure- footed. She used to avoid wood floors....not as much a challenge now. I like the look of the black polished versions.

Poor quality for a large active dog
I think they would work on a smaller dog I have a weimaraner 65lbs right now so weight I'm sure is most of the problem. The ends keep falling off exposing the ends of the nails maybe a smaller dog wouldn't bust the ends off mine does in just an hour in grass in the house doesn't seem to fall apart as fast.

Now have a sneaky dog
These have been great at saving our high polish wood floors. Our dog doesn't mind them one bit.

Easy to Use
We used these on our Husky and she didn't mind them at all. Easy to glue on, they slide right on top of their nails. They fall off on their own, last 3-4 weeks. Worth the work putting it on your pup but after that no more hurting you when they jump on you.

Great idea
PRO : These caps are amazing on my puppy ...no more scratching on my legs when he wants to be picked up--these caps really look nice on the nailsCON: Well my puppy actually hated the caps he kept knawing on the caps everyday until he was biting on his little skin around the caps as well..there was enough glue to secure no immediate fall off ..however once the caps were finally falling off my puppy had the worse skin as if he had been eaten by antsGreat idea at first but not a product that i can use routinely due to the damage after the nails come off
