One of the reasons why I get organic anatto is because is msg free and contains no gluten. As a child I grew up eating food with anatto. My father had an anatto tree and we collect the seeds, allow them to dry in the sun , then soak the seeds in oil in order to get the color out of the seeds and use it to add color to the yellow rice or beans or anything with color. The red or orange color is natural from the seed. Now that I can get ground seeds is that much easier. So yes Anatto is gluten and MSG free.

I is true that the package does not mention it, and it should because Annatto is very high in vitamin E. Annatto contains nearly 100% tocotrienols in the strongest and most potent form. Annatto, from the bright red seeds, is the only plant source to provide exclusively the delta- and gamma-Tocotrienol E, which are the most potent and beneficial forms of Vitamin E.

Q: I would like to hear from seller whether or not product is gluten free and non-gmo?

Annatto comes from the achiote tree. The seeds are gluten-free because gluten comes from wheat. As far as if they were grown without GMO, I highly doubt the trees were genetically modified.

I was so happy to rediscover Annatto! I am affected by nightshade vegetables so paprika wasn't working for me....neither turmeric....then I remembered annatto from childhood and...presto! It was available online! The flavour is mild and the color effect is good. Washes off easier than turmeric
