good for first year teacher, pass if experienced
I returned this book. I was excited for activities, but found it was really a worksheet/notecard book with pairing suggestions. It would be great for a first year Algebra teacher, needing help with lesson planning (many lessons are already done and complete). For a teacher that already has lessons, worksheets, and pairing strategies, however, it is not an activity book and I did not find it useful.

might be good for advanced kids
I purchased this for my special education algebra class in hopes that the Kagan activities would help them understand algebra. This book is really good for kids who understand, and provides reinforcement activities. It does not provide the activities to help students actually understand the concepts they are learning like I thought it would. I am really disappointed that I spent my money on this book. I also am new to the Kagan stuff and it suggests structures like "Sage and Scribe" without describing what it is for.I really do think this book would be great for teachers of kids who know what they are doing but need some more fun added to the curriculum, and teachers who are already familiar with Kagan.

Love it!
This resource is jam packed with activities using Kagan structures to reinforce algebraic concepts. My students really enjoy the Sage and Scribe activities. As a teacher I love the Exploration activities that are included for the major concepts. The Exploration activities allow students to figure it out on their own...and my algebra students love it....a day with no notes!

Fairly decent start. Stratefies repeat themselves throughout.

Second Cooperative book by Kagan
I loved the Geometry book so much I bought the Algebra book. The activities are very well outlined, and the black-line masters are appropriate for cooperative work. There is a mix of types of group alignment; whole group, pairs, teams, groups of 3-4. I look forward to adding to my Kagan collection.

Not useful
I thought this would have more activities in it that would be useful in my classroom. It is all things that I've already found online or have created myself. I purchased the Algebra 1 and then Geometry; returned both.

Use it constantly
I use this at least 2 days a week in my class and for planning for the next week as a part of my lesson plan. I am new to cooperative learning, but this old dog likes these tricks!

Includes good strategies.
I expected more, this book is definitely not for high school level more like middle school.
