Us (4K Ultra-HD + Blu-ray) [2019] [Region Free]

First of all, I'm going to start by saying that I am an absolute horror obsessed nerd. I have over 500 horror films on dvd, and have seen well over a thousand horror films over the years. I am absolutely horror obsessed, including books, online stories, podcasts, games.Over the past few years, I've found myself being very disappointed in films I have been excited about. Modern horror has a tendency to swap atmosphere and character development for jump scares and special effects.I decided to give US a go. I rented it on Amazon Prime, and bought it on Dvd immediately after watching it. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Us has climbed its way up as one of my favourite films.It's a long film, but the acting is fantastic, the lead female is phenomenonal. One thing that I loved was the character development. If you don't care about the characters, if you don't like or dislike them, then it takes away the tension from the film, as you don't care if they die. Character development is important. Us definitely has a lot of focus on the characters, so you want them to survive because you grow to care about them, which in turn makes the film all the more exciting. Very few recent films bother with character development, but Us does a superb job.There is a lot of atmosphere, tension, and few jump scares. This isn't a film that depends on things making you jump, this film instead, has a fantastic storyline. It's unique, and very well done. Having a good storyline and good characters adds to the overall atmosphere of the film.Us is a film that left me thinking about it long after I finished watching it. I couldn't watch anything else afterwards because it wouldn't really have compared. Very few films have my attention held so completely. I am very thrilled to add this one to my collection. I have recommended it to my fellow horror loving friends.

Good value for money. Good movie

There is a lot of atmosphere, tension, and few jump scares. This isn't a film that depends on things making you jump, this film instead, has a fantastic story played out to perfection. It's unique, and very well done. Having a good story-line and good characters adds to the overall atmosphere of the film.

Good film

I waited a long time to watch this film (don’t like the cinema) and had high expectations. Sadly I wasn’t very impressed. It was ok but after watching Get Out, this wasn’t anywhere near as good in my opinion. I don’t want to spoil any part of the movie for anyone so I’ll leave it there...

watched this film several times now, the story has so many layers to it! currently writing a section of my dissertation on Us and it’s really interesting to see how different this film is from other horror films! i love this film so much

Loved this film. It's builds slowly but has a WTF moment in the beginning section that will keep you glued.Like GET OUT, the reveal of what's happening doesn't quite hold together - but it's such an entertaining ride that it doesn't matter too much. The performances are fabulous and you'll care about what happens to them - a great basis for any horror film!

ASIN: B07PDT24HCJAN： 5053083187118アメリカ盤でないようですが日本のプレイヤーで無事再生できました。　2017年に「ゲット・アウト」でアカデミー賞脚本賞受賞の、ジョーダン・ピール脚本監督ホラー第２作目。地元で劇場公開がなく(2019年9月下旬現在)、このディスクを購入し英語字幕で鑑賞しました。「ゲット・アウト」がホームランとすれば、この「アス」も三塁打は行ってると思います。かなり面白く斬新な設定には説明が苦しいところもありますが、場面ごとの緊張感がとても高く、細かい伏線を数多く張りめぐらせた脚本の組み立てが絶妙で、116分間気を緩められる場面がありません。とはいえ、もともとコメディが専門のピール氏でもあり、命が危険にさらされハラハラの場面に、ギャグを投げ込んできたりして、そのさじ加減もまた見事でした。　1968年にロメロが「生ける屍」を考案して以来、その設定を再利用した映画・ゲーム等が山のようにありますが、昨年の「クワイエット・プレイス」やこの「アス」の設定も少し修正（「アス」の設定はカズオ・イシグロ「わたしを離さないで」から少しアイディアを盗用して混ぜるともっと説得力を持たせられそう）しながら、もっと膨らませて再利用していける可能性が十分にあるように思われます。
