This is an amazing little Digital / Electronic Drum unit
This is an amazing little Digital / Electronic Drum unit, especially for the price. I actually like some of the features on this more than some features of my more expensive Yamaha DD65 Electronic Drums. This is basically a less expensive option - though for me, I am using this unit to supplement my Yamaha DD65 Electronic Drums. I patch the Pyle-Pro PTED01 through my Yamaha DD65 unit and end up with a total of 19 Drum Pads (when playing both kits together) Even on its own, the Pyle-Pro PTED01 is really a nice little unit. Play through headphones or, patch through a stereo or PA system. I haven't had the problem with missed hits as some have mentioned but imagine it could be an occasional issue. One trick I use with these digital drums is to work the foot pedals with the heal of the foot instead of my toe. Takes some getting use to but works really well when playing double-bass. As with any compact digital drum unit, precision is key. Over time, you will become a very accurate drummer. This wasn't an issue with me as I use to play a lot of Rototoms. This unit has a variety of sounds to choose from and a hand percs option. Enjoy! The only negative remarks would be that some of the sounds do have a slight noise at the fade-out stage. Only really noticeable with headphones. I would like better mounting options per stand. But hey, for the price, this is pretty amazing! .

Great sounds, midi doesn't work very well though
At first, I didn't really like this very much and was put off by how much space it took up on my desk. But after the 2nd day of playing it, it's a pretty awesome piece of equipment. The sounds it has are very good, at least upon going through and testing various kicks. It's a solid sounding instrument. It doesn't make too much noise in the headphone out, either, which is good for my recording purposes. I think there is definitely something to be said for actually playing drum parts for songs, as opposed to letting a drum machine or virtual drummer do it all for you. The part that I don't like about it is the midi aspect. When I plugged this into my computer via USB, I excepted it to be better than it was. This, to me, is probably the biggest downfall of the machine. It still plays drum sounds when plugged in, much like a midi interface even. Also, it is WAY too quiet when functioning as a midi controller. I don't know if this is Logic's drum plugin's fault or what, but I found it better to record the line out through the headphone jack. This is kind of a shame because I could edit the drum rhythm had it played well through midi, as well as quantize and add "swing" to the groove this way, aside from also choosing specific kits or drum sounds. I haven't completely given up on the midi functionality yet, but it does seem to be more functional using its own sounds. Overall, I think this is a really nice piece of equipment, and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone pretty much.

Great Digital Drums For The Price
The Pyle PTED01 digital drums work great. It's easy to program the way you want by changing the pad voices and midi note pad assignments. The USB port allows you to connect to your computer for midi sequencing inside your digital audio workstation software. There are five memory locations to store your own drum kits for the internal kits and midi kits. The drum sounds have cross switching for soft and hard hits on the pads which adds a nice dynamic touch. You can play along with the 100 built in songs and mute the kit performances in each song with the "Drum Off" button, also you can practice and control the volume of the accompaniment tracks. Please watch my video on how to setup the PTED01 to perform the way you like, and hear how the drum kits sound to make it easier for you to decide if the PTED01 is right for you. Perfect gift for my son!
My son is only a toddler, but he is obsessed with music, especially drums. We have been trying to slowly introduce him to real instruments, instead of "kids" music toys as he has been growing up. For Christmas, we wanted to get him a drum kit to replace his 5-gallon bucket drums, but were concerned that it would be too loud as he is learning to play. We bought this unit based on the great reviews, its small footprint, the logical pad layout, its foot pedals, and its ability to control the volume. He has only had it a few days, but he loves it...and I have to admit, I love it too! This drum kit sounds amazingly real and the speakers are clear enough to fool the ear if you were to listen from another room. We set it up on a small coffee table, and he has already pulled up his chair there as permanent fixture in our home! He loves to reach up to the dial to switch up the drum kits to get different sounds, and I love how simple it is to control the volume of his play. The pads are sensitive enough to respond to his little hands in the hand percussion mode, and the plastic seems durable enough to withstand his not-so-perfect aim with the drum sticks. Still is great shape and functioning after 9 months of use. We are learning to play together and we could not be happier with the purchase.

Good for beginners and children
It was a gift for my husband, he liked it the first couple of days, but he says it’s not big enough for an adult, I would recommend for a child. Other than that, is good to play around with it.

Great Sound and portability
I have now tried several of these electric drum pads. I am a beginner drummer and have an electric kit for home. But I wanted a kit that I could travel with and take to work. I work 24-72 hour shifts and do have a few minutes to practice here or there. What would make this kit perfect would be battery back up for it to be complete portable. This is one of the only tabletop models that has the high hat where it belongs in a traditional kit instead of in the middle. Also, there’s lots of kit choices as well as the ability to create your own kit. I believe the sounds coming from this kit are similar that come from traditional electronic drum kits that are full size. this instrument does not sound like a toy. I’m still getting used to the high hat and kick pedals. I’m still learning the timing of them versus other pedals that I’ve tried with other kits. As a beginner, I don’t do double kicks and could make comments to the sensitivity of these particular petals. Of the five tabletop kits that I have tried this one is my favorite.

Great fun
While this kit won't replace a higher end electronic drum setup, it offers some unexpected features we love. It also has drawbacks. My 11-year-old grandson has the summer off from his drum lessons, but wanted to practice regularly and learn some new songs. This set seemed the best bet for that and we are pleased. It didn't take him long to figure out how to use the controls to set the configuration he wanted and he especially liked the provided loops with timer that allowed him to quickly learn and play along with these relatively simple routines. That gave him a boost in confidence to try more complex things. Out of the box, we used the AC adapter to plug the unit into an outlet because we didn't have the necessary 6 C batteries on hand. Once we buy those he'll enjoy having the set more portable. I worried that it would be too loud and possibly annoying to listen to so I had some headphones on hand for him to use (you need ones with a fairly long cord to reach from the back of the unit under or around it thus out of the way and to the user), but we never plugged those in because it is more pleasant to listen to than expected and of course there are volume controls. We downloaded a song he knew onto my iPhone and started that so he could play along. He set the volume so it matched the playing song and did pretty well. His major complaint was that occasionally a drum head doesn't sound as it should which would distract his rhythm. You do need to hit them 'just so' to get the response. I guess when you're used to a full size kit, it's a bit awkward to hit these small pads consistently and in the right place. There are 'dead spots' at the edges of the pads and sometimes when he hit two pads at once in a faster riff, one might not sound. That might have been a product of his inexperience, but it's something to think about if you expect to use this kit for more than practice and play. As a listener, I thought the cymbals and some other sounds should have more reverb than they did, but that may be something you can set. There are a lot of options for settings. The thing that ended up entertaining us all for a long time and was totally unexpected was that in addition to the many choices for drum set sounds, there are over a hundred other sounds to choose from. Everything from explosions, thunder, various animal sounds, laughter, footsteps, a creaking door, an eerie scream to car sounds and convincing war sounds. You can set each pad and pedal separately and save the configuration just like you can with the drum set sounds, so my young drummer ended up creating sets to match stories he made up and then punctuated them in the telling with various sounds. That was a lot of fun. Bottom line: It was easy and fast to set the unit up initially using one of several preconfigured drum set combinations assigned to the pads and pedals that are pretty standard, I guess, as he was able to instantly identify which pad represented which corresponding drum set piece and was satisfied with the sounds, but I was amazed at the options available to set things up to suit specific needs. He had no trouble figuring out how to do this without the instructions and spent hours at it, making up stories to punctuate with sound effects as well as playing along with provided loops and demos and real songs playing on other media. If he sticks with his lessons he'll need a higher end set than this, but for now this is fine and decent value for the price.
