I was looking for an added safety feature to use on my front door while I am inside, especially while I am sleeping. This one caught my attention, especially the fact that it is small enough to travel with. But don't let its size fool you. It is very sturdy and, when properly installed, it will be nearly impossible to push a door open. I was very surprised when I read the reviews and saw many saying it did not work. The site also stated that this is a frequently returned item. And yet I took a chance and ordered it. This is an amazing product and I believe I know why many say it does not work and have returned it. THEY DID NOT INSTALL IT PROPERLY!!! I know because the first couple of times I tried to install it it would not stay in place. So I continued trying until I finally figured it out and installed it correctly and securely. So here are my step by step instructions of how I installed it successfully. (Take a look at my photos) And you do not need any tools to do this: The box comes with the jammer, a key ring of rubber spacers, an additional base part that needs to be used for doors that have a high clearance and a handy carrying case. 1) On the ring find a rubber spacer that will fit snuggly at the top of the door. You do not need to remove them from the ring. In my case I used 2 together to fill the gap. The reason for the rubber spacers is to hold the alignment of the door in place as the jammer pushes the door from the bottom. Insert the spacer at the top of the door on the opposite end of were the door where the hinges are (On the opposite end of where the hinges are, this is crucial). 2) Make sure the the screw base end of the jammer is screwed all the way in. 3) At the bottom of the door, on the opposite end of the hinge area ( again, crucial), insert the jammer. The L shaped bracket of the jammer goes beneath the door and it must be held firmly and flush against the door while you turn the base screw. This is where the installation goes wrong, if the bracket is not held flush against the door! I just held it in place with my thumb. The L shaped bracket needs to be held in place while you do the next step. 4) Now slowly turn the base screw. The screw will begin to press against the floor at the same time is presses the jammer into the door. Keep holding the jammer securely against the door until the base screw will no longer turn. Now remove your hand from the jammer and try opening the door. If you have done it correctly that door will not move a centimeter and the jammer cannot be pulled away from the door. The negative reviews and the returns of this item could be easily eliminated if clear and concise instructions came with the product. There are no instructions provided for the end user. I had to sort of figure it out on my own. I have seen more and more of this practice in the last few years. You receive a product and have no idea on how to use it. The Seller ends up getting lousy reviews and the items keep getting returned. Us consumers end up passing up on possible good, useful products because the reviews say it does not work. And the reviews say it does not work because they do not know the proper way to use it. It a vicious cycle. SELLERS, INSTRUCTIONS, SEND US INSTRUCTIONS. It is a shame in this case because this jammer really, really works and is the perfect solution to the added safety and security I was looking for. So if you follow MY INSTRUCTIONS, you will be able to increase the security of any door in your home or place of work. Good luck!

This is definitely worth it. I tried it on my own door and it works like a charm, it locks in place. Highly recommended. It's not heavy at all, very easy to use.

The efficacy determines the circumstances! This would not work on my front door bc there is a 2 inch ledge that this could not fit. However, it works great on my back door. You have to position it correctly and twist the lock all the way down to where it's tight. It does work very well - I could not open the door without it being compromised. However, we use this door somewhat often and it's a pain to constantly untwist and reposition when we leave and at night. That's something to keep in mind. In my experience, it's best for traveling (knowing it won't work in every circumstance) and for doors that you don't frequently go through. This is great while we wait for our security door.

Took this with me on a cruise. My husband didn’t come and this helped me feel secure. It def wouldn’t let the door budge. Easy to put on and off. Fit under the cabin door on the cruise and my child’s door. It was super sturdy a hard pull and still no movement from the door

I purchased it to use in hotel rooms as security. Cheap and ineffective. Don’t buy it!

The idea is great however, it does not fit in my doorways because I don't have large gaps between the door and the door frame.

This is a perfect door lock! Easy to use and so secure!!!! No one will get into your room!!!! As a Flight Attendant, hotel security is important. I now feel safe, wherever I go! I wouldn't travel without one!
