Outstanding IT Band Syndrome Solution
After many marathon and half-marathon races, the repeated pavement-pounding and cross-training stresses began to take their toll on me at the 21st mile mark of a marathon event in 2013. Experiencing radial discomfort outside of my left knee, I was soon unable to run without experiencing excruciating pain. I finished the race thinking I had injured my knee when, in fact, I had strained my Iliotibial (or IT) band. For those unfamiliar, the IT band is a wide tendon or "fascia" responsible for raising the leg up and down. It extends from outside of the pelvis and down the leg to a point behind the knee. When it gets strained, it tightens up significantly, compressing nerves on the side of the leg - leading to pain outside of the knee.To continue my training, I needed a solution and found it in this adjustable strap. It relieved the pressure on the band, allowing it to heal while I was able to continue running (albeit at a more moderate pace). In about three months - while continuing to run - I was able to increase my distance to where it had been. As a result, I was able to run three marathons in 2014 and one half-marathon due to the relief the band gave me. If you have ever experienced this injury - or want to use it to prevent one - I would highly recommend this product. The only drawback is that, for someone who runs 20-30 miles per week, it is effective for only about 3 months. Yet, despite this, it is nonetheless a near-perfect IT injury antidote or prevention for the long-distance runner.

Good, if only for a temporary fix.
I have had ITBS on and off with running for the past year; I blame my ITBS on beveled roads and my biomechanics. I ordered this product when it was getting to the point that even slowing down and reducing my stride wasn't enough. The Fit: It will take some adjusting to figure out your "sweet spot". Contrary to the picture of this product, this strap works best for me when it's up almost near the mid-thigh region, as opposed to right above the knee. The Strap Itself: This strap works best if you're wearing running pants as opposed to shorts as the "no slip" grip of the band will work best on fabric. Otherwise, on bare skin, you're setting yourself up to having to stop mid run to adjust the thing. Also, on bare skin, when the strap is stretched the band becomes slightly skinnier which would be fine if the velcro also did. Unfortunately, it does not, so the velcro may rub uncomfortably against bare skin. The function: Works well, but buy this in conjunction with a Foam Roller and ROLL THE CRAP OUT OF THAT IT BAND. This strap is not a permanent fix, just a bit of support while your band heals. With a foam roller, you will destroy/prevent any scar tissue, which is important to heal it.Overall: This is a good product and helped me out. I recommend it if you're having trouble with your IT Band.
