Elly's my quilting hero!! I love hand applique and have taken a class from Elly. She's extremely gracious, kind, and an exceptional teacher. This is one of her books I did not own and its as excellent as the rest of her books. I believe its the first one she wrote but has been off the market for many, many years. Very glad I now own it. Wonderful tips and patterns in each book she writes.

I own the original version of this as well, so I was anxious to see the updated version. Wow! I love them both. Elly Sienkiewicz was my first applique teacher, and she is a true grande dame of the quilt world. Her interest in history and careful study and research of a particular period in quilting history - the Baltimore Album quilts. Elly's wonderful presentation of the gentle arts side and the meaning of flowers and other symbols from that time just add to the charm of this book. Do it miss your chance to own a copy!

Elly Sienkiewicz is undoubtably the worlds most widely read source for Baltimore album style quilts. I have read and used patterns from her books for nearly 25 years, making 5 quilts in this style. In this recent publication however, I was disappointed with some of the photographs of the quilts. I felt that they lacked clear focus in many instances. While it is full of information regarding history, it lacks in instruction. For many people who may purchase this book with the idea of learning to make some of the blocks, they may find it frustrating. If you are looking to start a Baltimore quilt, look for her "Baltimore Beauties and Beyond" Vol.1 instead.

I have wanted this forever. I finally got this when the price was low enough . I do have the reprint but I wanted the original too. I now have all Elly Sienkiewicz books. It is in very good condition just a few pencil marks.

Outstanding. I'd not been able to find an out-of-print copy of the original, so I was pleased to have it sandwiched within a wealth of new information. Even if you're lucky enough to have the first edition, this new book is more than worth the price.

Elly is the best and is the expert on Baltimore Album quilts. She is also a. Very kind, giving, and patient teacher. A lady with class and knowledge.

it was as advertised. used but intact. I will enjoy this and definitely use it. it is simply written but contains a wealth of information. I have already shared it as a must have at my sewing group.
