Excellent book
I am very impressed with this book. I have been taking immersion classes in France and wanted to prepare for my next set. I picked up several French grammar books (I am intermediate) but I find this one is most helpful. She gives great explanations of why things are the way they are. Exercises with the answers in the back. I am working through it at 20 pages a day. Very helpful!

New book was not new
I thought I ordered a new book but when it arrived it was obviously used. There was a bit of damage to the bound part of the book which I could certainly live with but it was also written in.

Useful for Learners at all levels
Bought this recently, and have been using it since. It is very easy to understand with a lot of exercises for practice. It helps with clarifying grammar for the 'not so new' learner of French (I needed help with the fundamentals, that's why I bought it). A good buy to supplement other grammar books.

This is NOT a beginners workbook. It is a grammatical reference.
Make sure you have a clear idea of WHAT THIS BOOK IS AND WHAT IT IS NOT before you make the purchase. What it is not: A workbook for beginning learners of french. What it is: A thorough grammatical resourceIt does not begin with the basic building blocks of a language: How to introduce yourself, how to say where you're from, indispensible verbs like "to be" "to have" "to go" and their different forms, basic phrases like "how are you?," etc.Instead, the third exercise has you reading a small story (98% of the vocabulary you will not have encountered) and filling in the missing accents. The fourth exercise has you translating sentences like "the cold winter in this city is the main handicap for our grandparents." This is before any coverage of basic family member vocabulary.I regret having spent $30 on this book thinking it would be a good starting point for learning French. I just hope that in the future, after I have some familiarity with the basics, it proves to be a useful resource in my journey learning this language.

A Pretty Good Solid Language Book
This is a really good book that I'm happy I purchased. It is chop full of vocabulary and exercises. But just like anytime one is learning a language, a book can't provide everything needed. This book, a good dictionary, some additional reading text, and a good speaking partner will give you a very good foundation for french.
