Amazing Detector & Worth Every Penny!
The Uniden R7 EXTREME LONG RANGE Laser/Radar Detector is an impressive and highly effective radar detector that offers exceptional performance, reliability, and advanced features. Here's a breakdown of what makes this device stand out:Range and SensitivityFirst and foremost, the R7’s extreme long-range detection is one of its strongest selling points. Whether you’re driving in the city or out on the highway, it picks up radar signals from a long distance, giving you more time to react. The dual-antennas system (front and rear) significantly improves detection accuracy, and the directional arrows make it easier to identify which direction the signal is coming from—something not all detectors offer.Built-In GPS and Real-Time AlertsThe built-in GPS feature is incredibly useful for filtering out false alerts from stationary sources like automatic door openers and traffic sensors. The real-time alerts for red light cameras and speed cameras are precise and timely, helping you avoid unexpected fines.Voice AlertsVoice alerts are another standout feature. They are clear, easy to understand, and loud enough without being overwhelming. Whether it's an upcoming speed trap or a radar signal in the distance, the voice notification adds a layer of convenience, so you don’t have to constantly watch the screen.Design and BuildThe device itself is sleek and compact, with a user-friendly interface that allows for quick adjustments on the fly. The directional arrows make it easy to interpret which part of the road the radar is targeting, and the display is large and easy to read, even in bright sunlight.Performance and AccuracyWith its extreme range and dual antennas, the R7 has proven to be highly accurate, detecting radar signals from miles away. It’s perfect for highway driving, especially when you need to stay alert for potential threats from both the front and rear. Additionally, the unit offers great filtering capabilities, which reduces the number of false alerts you might encounter with other detectors.Overall ImpressionsIn summary, the Uniden R7 EXTREME LONG RANGE radar detector is a top-tier choice for anyone looking for maximum detection range, precision, and user-friendly features. With its combination of GPS, real-time alerts, voice prompts, and dual antenna system, it delivers an exceptional driving experience, providing peace of mind whether you're navigating urban streets or cruising on the freeway. If you’re serious about staying ahead of speed traps and radar enforcement, this detector is an investment worth making.

Excellent range, great value
Purchased this to install in my 2022 challenger as a little extra insurance when I’m out enjoying the car. It seems to not give many false alerts. It does very well on Ka band that’s most common in my area. It’s my understanding the Ka band radar guns generally have a maximum range of around 1/4 mile. This radar detector has alerted me to them as far as 2 miles away, giving ample time for me to slow down if necessary. It has a TON of features/settings and is easily updated via a computer. Overall I think the Uniden R7 is the best value out there. The only feature I think it’s missing is a dispay where you could change the colors to match your gauges or personal preference.

It's saved me hundreds if not thousands of seconds in drive time.
I've used this product just over a year, it alerts. It also stores alerts from your daily drive and mutes them if you want. We take 1000 mile road trips every month, haven't had an issue.with the R7. Stays mounted at the highest portion on the windshield to receive signals before the front of the vehicle, wires routed in the molding for inconspicuous installation. Would recommend, buying a second for my spouse.

Use the software to adjust your settings.
Works great. Those of you with false alarms should probably Google the bands used in your state and counties. Then connect the device to a computer and adjust the settings there. Very few false alarms here.

The best RADAR detector made. Period.
I've been using RADAR detectors since the early 80's when I bought my first Escort. Since then I've owned literally dozens of detectors. This Uniden R7 is, hands-down, the finest RADAR detector I've ever owned. The ability to customize alerts keeps the false alerts to a minimum. Even though most of my driving is on rural 2-lane, I keep the R7 in City Mode which still picks up Ka alerts LONG before I actually see the cop.Even if I don't see the cop, the directional arrows are great for knowing when you've passed the threat. I don't know if the R8 is $200 - $300 better, but I'm in no hurry to upgrade.

Great radar detector, hefty price. possibly used?
I love this radar detector, but it’s not really helpful where i live due to cops not using radar much. it works flawlessly and is very simple to set up out of the box and update if needed. the windshield mount is also great. i would suggest getting a rear view mirror mount and hardwiring it in for a sleeker look and a great fit. the arrows are a cool feature to tell you where the signal is coming from. can easily detect k/ka band radar from a mile away or more and doesn’t give false alerts as often as cheaper brands. it’s a great detector, but the price for the R7 and R8 isn’t very justifiable unless you live in a state/city with heavy speed enforcement otherwise you’ll get more alerts for auto opening doors at stores than actual LEO’s.i also think i received a refurbished model due to it having a few scratches and missing the protective film on the front of the detector which isn’t really a big deal because the radar detector still works as intended, just makes me upset paying this much for a used model.if you want a good radar detector i would suggest Uniden’s DFR line or the R3/R4 for the price. if your heart is set on getting a radar with arrows and a few more settings you can mess with get the R7. if you live in a heavily enforced state then i would suggest the R8 but you really have to mess with the settings to keep it quiet and reduce false alerts.
