Q: Have you tried cooking something thicker than a standard hot dog...for instant, smoked or Italian sausage..???

Yes. I have done Italian sausages and brats. It works just fine. It just takes a bit longer, and you may want to adjust the heater setting a little lower and plan for more cooking time. They turn out excellent, just like the regular hotdogs do.

Q: Will the buns burn if I use this to warm them? I don't like burnt bread. Thanks

Q: How long does it take to fully cook the hot dogs?

You can heat them fast (less than 10 minutes) if you want, however, we like to lower the heat and cook them 20 minutes or so. They get that nice, cooked outer if you let them roll a while. You can also leave them on (low) for over an hour without burning. It is a great machine!
