Channel Jumper in Alderney (Bailiwick of Guernsey) brings you the finest quality genuine traditional Guernsey jumper.Born in the islands' seafaring communities this piece of clothing has a rich history and a hard-wearing reputation.THE GUERNSEYThe traditional Guernsey sweater was originally a local fisherman's working garment, hence the diamond under the arm for ease of movement and extra strength. The rib at the top of the sleeve is said to represent a sailing ship's rope ladder in the rigging, the raised seam across the shoulder a rope and the garter stitch panel, waves breaking upon the beach. In order to be a genuine Guernsey, the jumper must be made of British worsted wool. It is knitted with close stitches from tightly twisted wool and this gives it its ability to withstand sea spray and rain. This results in a strong, long lasting garment that will hold its shape better in both wear and washing.CHANNEL JUMPER LTDThe company was started as a Cottage industry in 1974 and has been registered in Alderney since March 1976. The intention was to revive the Alderney sweater which had not been in production for over 50 years, and to establish a knitting industry on the Island. Today the company produces the traditional Guernsey sweater in a variety of styles as well as a range of contemporary knitwear for men and women.

A quality product through and through.
Excellent product and packaging also arrived two days early and this is December. It is very rare when a product exceeds expectations but this has by a mile, the sizing is quite keen so go a size up if you want a a bit a room.

Fabulous product and service
Great jumper and fabulous service. I had to return as bought as Christmas present. Obviously too much xmas pud consumed. No issues at all with swapping for a larger size. Would definitely recommend and buy from this co. Again!

disappointing
Very disappointing. Despite 3 emails the company would not confirm if these are made in the Channel Islands. The quality is disappointing and I have seen similar from Scottich woolen mills at half the price. Compared to my Le Trcoteur Guernsey jumper, these are a poor immitation.
