S & L Hell: The People and the Politics Behind the $1 Trillion Savings and Loan Scandal

Useful lessons for other countries
There was a lot of political involvement in the S/L crisis. The author listed many corrupt acts on the part of politicians and S/L executives. One shortcoming perhaps: the author did not analyse why S/L as an industry must collapse. I suspect there is a fundamental reason: they all suffer diseconomies of scale. We see that problem in other countries too. Being small means you have no resources for tech and data.

Pretty Insightfull Book
Take your time reading this book. I have to read if for a class in grad school. It is actually a very good and insightful book. I would highly recommend that you take your time to really understand all of the connections and situations explained throughout the book. It will be that much more rewarding in the end!

Great read on a tragedy.
I found the book very factual and well written. It is amazing to me how few people were indicted for their actions.

The book was better than her lectures
Required reading in an ethics class--taught by her. A bit of a conflict of interest, and loads of irony, there. The book was better than her lectures, and I would recommend neither.

History Repeats Itself
Set in different times to show a historical perspective of the banking industry and regulation but very applicable to today.

A special Hell for the criminals of the S&L scandal
A very humanist approach to the S&L scandal. A great read, Day keeps the audience spellbound as she takes us from Ohio, Maryland all around the problem states. An informative yet intersting read. This could have been written in a dry and factual format, I'm glad it wasn't. I highly recommend this book on the S&L scandal if you want to learn more on the subject, or just a good book to read.
