The Shady Monkey 2 in 1 Aluminum Deck Mount Umbrella Base for Patio & Market Umbrellas

This is a very well made, may I mention AMERICAN MADE, umbrella base for permanent mount. It is all aluminum, heavy gauge thickness with a removable plastic liner. The mounting bolts were included and correctly sized. I have not mounted them yet, but based on the quality of materials and construction, I bet these would outlast any umbrella that they are made to accommodate. The only recommendation for improvement that I could make would be to include a bottom plate with nuts and bolts so the stand could be through bolted to a deck with a longer backing plate to distribute the load across multiple deck boards, as another option to the lag bolts. I think the lag bolts will work fine, but I usually like to through bolt flag poles, umbrella stands, and other items that will be under a bending moment load at the base.

Heavy duty product meant to be installed permanently in one spot, so I’m not sure why they want us to rate maneuverability. As far as moving the umbrella, easy as removing a clip and lifting the umbrella a foot to remove from the base and you can then store it away. Does require you drill a hole in the umbrella base if you want to use the safety clip, but well worth it to know your umbrella is secure. We have it installed on a floating doc and it is perfect for a couple of chairs to protect us from the sun. I’d classify this to be more of a commercial level stand, it is that well built.

This is perfect for what I needed. I have a 10’ umbrella for a deck and all other holders had such a large footprint it was hard to get furniture under the umbrella. I lag bolted it to the deck right through the outdoor carpet, it hardly takes up any room. It took me a bit to accurately line up the pin hole to drill through my umbrella pole but got it. My pole is a little smaller than the holder and at first the umbrella leaned but was able to “shim” it quite easily. I’ve already recommended this holder to two people.

What a great idea! That is as long as you don't need to move the umbrella around. I have a 11 foot umbrella that would require a 70 pound or heavier base which I wouldn't feel like moving around anyway. My umbrella didn't fit using their spacer so I got a thin-walled lexan tube and it's perfect. I leaned on it with all my weight and it didn't budge. It's like having a 200 lb or heavier base.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It's well made and if installed correctly, it isn't going anywhere. I have high wind and little space. This was a perfect solution. I thought about painting it but the aluminum look is good too.

I'm using on my boat dock and that thing is rock solid with the umbrella in it. Very easy to install and a smart design.
