BrightLines Aero Roof Rack Cross Bars Replacement for 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 Subaru Ascent

I can see why some would say that these do not fit their Ascent because out of the box they are at shortest length and require a bit of adjustment. The instructions are ok for showing where the adjustment screws are but little vague when it comes to actual adjustment. Once adjusted to proper length, they fit perfectly and are very sturdy. I have not fully weight tested them but put a bit of weight on them while on the vehicle and they feel very firm. The only down check I would say is the inability to lock them, so if you live in an area full of sketchy individuals who carry around allen wrenches, this might not be the product for you. This could be solve by purchasing the proper size keyed screws to replace the generic ones. Well worth the $60 or $70 I saved over OEM.*UPDATE*I was recently able to do a pretty good weight/stress test on these bars. I was able to carry 8 sheet of 1/2 sheetrock on them at approx 50lbs a sheet, that is approx 400lbs across the bars (pictured). Granted the weight is also distributed across the main rails but I think that this shows how comparable these bars are compared to the OEM bars. I am impressed!

Installed in less than 15 minutes on my wife's car. Took that vehicle immediately camping and the bars held steady, loaded over the weight limit, on about 50 miles of dirt road! Definitely happy with my purchase!

It took some adjusting for the installation, but it’s a set it and forget it. I attached a roof basket with plenty of cargo and drove about 2000 miles for a road trip with absolutely no problem. I used to place a mat and bag in my roof, but these bars and a basket increased my gas mileage by 4mpg on average. I just keep the basket affixed and remove the bars and basket as one unit to store. If you’re considering buying the OEM for twice the price (and I buy OEM for almost everything), this seems to work perfectly fine. I know my Subarus inside and out (on my 5th) and I don’t have any concerns if you install it properly.

Easy install

Hardware should be upgraded to stainless steel. I have not proven this out, but I don't want to wait, and have a problem trying to extract seized screws. Other than that it fit my 2021 Ascent easily. I was able to install them at maximum ends of the roof rails which is useful for car topping a canoe.

This rack is great! I love that I have a set of cross bars that look like the factory set. What's even better, is that I can leave them on. My last cars crossbars were so busy, that I took them off after use. No longer!!! Nice and strong, and super easy to install. Did it in the dark with a flashlight. No problem!

The bars off my old car didn’t work with my new car but I didn’t want to spend a ton on the big name brand products. I installed these myself in 20 min and used them to haul camping gear in a roof box with no issue. I don’t notice any extra noise driving without the box on. They look like they came with the car.

A great product. Less than half of what they dealer wanted for a similar product. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I used it for a hard rooftop carrier which carried about 100lbs with no problems. It’s made of quality material and I would definitely recommend it.
