Does what it says it does
I gotta preface this by saying I made a mistake. I assumed this was an active adapter, as I didn't realize they made "inactive" ones. I also didnt realize this was limited to 1080P. So that was an issue for me, as I meant to use this with a Huion Camvas 16 Pro, which has a 1440P screen but only takes HDMI. Needless to say, this didnt work with my tablet. Hopefully this can help someone else looking for a similar device to use with their tablet - look for an active adapter that can handle 1440P or 4K!However, for me not all was lost, as I was using my single HDMI port from my graphics card to output to a home theater receiver that I use for my speakers. So I plugged the Huion to the HDMI on my graphics card and used this DP to HDMI adapter to connect to the receiver via HDMI, and it worked! I was kinda surprised, as I didnt expect DP to also output audio, but it does. Worked perfectly!Aside from that, the adapter feels well made and sturdy. Seems pretty quality.

Great addition to my laptop bag
I purchased this device to use with my Dell Latitude E6520. I travel overseas a great amount of time, and like to watch television from back home when I am in a country where English is not the primary language. I have a Slingbox back home, and have been able to watch TV on my laptop for the past few years. As time has gone on, more and more hotels are adding flat screen televsions with HDMI ports. I bought this inexpensive little adaptor, along with an inexpensive HDMI cable and am now able to plug my laptop into the hotel televisions. On my last trip to Germany and Russia, this device worked flawlessly in both hotels that I stayed at. There was no setup, no adjustments. Just plug this cable into my laptop, plug the HDMI cable into the adaptor and the other end into the TV and I was good to go. Sound and video from the computer came through to the television. One hint in some hotels......the Hilton that I stayed in locked the inputs on the television so only the first HDMI port could be used, and they had their system plugged into that port. I simply unplugged their cable and plugged mine in. On the other TV I used, I had to choose the second HDMI port from the television remote control. And if you do use this in a hotel, be kind and switch the system back the way you found it, and plug any cables you might have unplugged to make this work.....not everyone is a technically savvy as us. They may turn the TV on the next day after you check out, the TV won't work and they will have to call the front desk to fix it.

Cable Matters Display Port Male to HDMI Female Cable Adapter
I purchased several of these Display Port to HDMI cable adapters to go with the various servers and laptops that I own. Since all of these computers only come with Display Ports and not HDMI, they are an absolute necessity to connect up to HDTV's and monitors.I own Display Port to HDMI adapters made by Bytek, Cobol, SYBA, and a couple other mfgs. These Cable Matters adapters are built as good as the best. The Display Port end has retractable cleats to lock into the port. This is a nice feature to keep a secure connection. The Female HDMI end doesn't have cleats but the fit of the cable in the female HDMI end is snug enough to hold it in place if you are not moving it around alot. I have not connected and disconnected cables from these adapters 100's of times to see if the fit loosens up. All I can say is that the fit is as good as any other adapter, and better than most. The cable portion of the adapter is flexible enough to take a 180 degree bend but, not limp. I will say that, there might be some problem if you are planning on plugging into a device that is right up against a wall. Allow an absolute minimum of 8cm (3+ inches) between the back of the device and the wall. You cannot unplug or plug in the adapter in that tight space, it is just enough to have the adapter end plugged into the device and the cable bent at 90 degrees.I purchased these as returned or opened pieces. Some of the devices came in opened packaging but a couple looked to be new. Once out of the bag, they are indistinguishable from new adapters.Performance is as good as the best Display Port to HDMI adapters I own. The adapters are plug'n'play. Windows 7 64-bit (or 32-bit) Pro has no problem with the adapters. Both surround sound and 1080p video are transmitted with no difficulty. I did not try to transmit gigabyte size data files and test transmission rates. All I can say is that they work great for 1080p and surround sound audio. As returned/refurbished items I only got about a 5% discount over the new price. I would have liked the less expensive but the price was competitive and the performance has been excellent so far.
