Great for beginners; easy to read, but "deep" enough story to keep the child immersed in the story (puns intended).
Awesome, simple book. Great for beginners to give them the exciting feeling of finishing a book. The story is actually rather "deep" when you consider the limited vocabulary used and keeps the child "immersed" in the story (puns intended)!

A student favorite
I bought this to replace my classroom copy. It is very popular amongst my beginning readers! The text gives them good practice with word endings, and they are encouraged to use the illustrations to supplement the story.

Watch the little fish get away!
I have used this story for preschool story hour at the library and it always goes over well. The illustrations are vivid and clear so that everyone can see it well in a group setting and the story line holds the attention of a mixed age audience.

Great for preschool!
Every preschool classroom needs this delightful book. The children love it during our ocean unit, and it's perfect for teaching little, big, bigger, etc. It's a fun read-aloud with simple text for emerging readers.

This story is sweet and simple - great for beginning readers
This is a book my children enjoyed (they are 23 now); I purchased as a gift for a baby shower and will probably buy again in the future.

Excellent Resource to Help Teach Comparatives/Superlatives
"Blue Sea" is a delightful book to help the beginner/elementary reader learn simple comparative and superlative adjectives. "Small," "Smaller," "Smallest," and "Big," "Bigger," "Biggest" are mentioned in this 21-page story that averages about 3-4 words per page. The text is large, and the visuals are simple, colorful, and uncluttered.
