This is the correct knife for cabbage harvest and trimming
Although Ontario Knife Company makes a “Cabbage knife,” it has a 6” blade which is a little too short for the harvest of cabbage. The extra inch length on this Old Hickory hop knife (7”) makes it perfect. It takes a nice edge. The thin blade reduces repetitive workload by having low drag. This knife is for serious work, not for someone that tosses it the back of the pick-up and forgets it. Wipe it down at the end of the day, keep it oiled or it will rust by morning. Sharpness is okay out of the box, but we hone it to a razor sharp edge. You can smile as novice breeders and seedsmen try to stump a cabbage with their dull, stainless hunting or survival knives as you cut, trim and halve cabbage, well, like a hot knife through butter.

it came dull as a butter knife
Bought this for camping, it came dull as a butter knife, but it took an edge really well. I like it and will probably put some finger grooves into the handle. I haven't used it camping yet, but the steel is good and it feels sturdy in the hand. All in all its a good knife.

Good knife for the money
I think that it is a good knife for the money. It was not very sharp out if the box. I sharpened it and put a mustard patina on it. I cut up some and onions and bell peppers and it did the job. I plan on using it outside to trim some plants. We will see how it works.

Good Strong Sharp Knife
This knife is my go to and I use it for almost eveverything...Yes, the blade does discolor, but it doesn't affect the cutting ability...my Mother had the Old Hickory Brand Knives...if she were still alive we are talking 99 years old...long history with these knives...I love them...my Sister has the Old Hickory Knives as well.

Blade is much too thin. I should have read ...
Blade is much too thin. I should have read the description more carefully. I ordered it, I will keep it.

The blade is flexible
The usual OKC quality, high carbon steel. If you are a bushcrafter who absolutely has to baton firewood with his knife, this is not the one for you. For kitchen and garden use, this is a fine tool. I know a guy with a hop garden who might appreciate it.
