Ann-Margret: My Story

Great Autobiography! So interesting I couldn't put the book down!
I've always liked Ann Margaret and her book is such an interesting read that I really couldn't put it down! Once I find a book that I like, as I did this book - nothing gets done around the house until I'm finished! She tells of her life from Sweden and coming to America as a child. How she always enjoyed singing to adults, especially her parents just to make them smile. She seems like such a nice lady and takes you through her career and to be honest I didn't realize she had such a busy career until I read her book. I knew she made Viva Las Vegas with Elvis and I'm a huge Elvis fan and read things about her when I'm researching Elvis with Ann Margaret mentioned many times with him so I decided to get her book to see what her viewpoint was. She does seem to be very close to him during their filming of the movie and they keep a special bond throughout the rest of his life. When you look at both of them they had so much in common. They were both an only child, believed in God, had natural raw talent, very attractive, etc. I can see how they connected on many things & why she was considered the female version of Elvis. Because she is. I believe initially they became very close to each other but Elvis had expressed he'd made a commitment prior to meeting Ann & she accepted it and their relationship changed over time to just being good supportive friends. I found it not so coincidental that Elvis would show up to watch her show in Las Vegas from time to time. It made me wonder if he regretted letting her go.There was a chapter where she wrote about performing in Miami Beach at the Fontainebleau while staying at the hotel her friend starts banging on her hotel door thinking there's a fire 🔥waking her & Roger up to a hallway filled with smoke & firefighters with Ann Margaret claiming she had to put her makeup on first! 🙅♀️This got me because that is so me! I really liked Ann Margaret in that one story! The fire turned out to be nothing serious at all. Like I said she was really interesting to read and she & Roger seemed to have a rock-solid marriage with him being her manager it seemed to be the perfect combination. I know that Roger passed away since the book came out and I hope Ann Margaret has much peace, joy & love throughout the rest of her days for she's had quite an interesting life.

Interesting story about Ann’s life
This book has nothing juicy and is not a Kiss N Tell type of book. It tells about Ann’s beginning and her life. If you are a long time fan, You will surely enjoy this book!

Her association with Elvis Presley.
I enjoyed reading her book. Ann Margret cared a lot about Elvis. The Man, not his fame. She was truly his friend. Although she was a faithful wife, she remained a true caring friend of Elvis. Liked the honesty about her. She truly a female Elvis.

So profoundly Swedish!
This is a very good biography, structured in the way I like, that is chronologically, going back deeply to the roots, the country and the values that form an individual. The book has many pages, this is also what I like in a biography; the chapters are short and each describes a particular moment in the life of Ms Ann-Margret. The reading flows easily and captures the reader in her unique experiences that I acually, at times, I had the impression that I was hearing her voice. So Swedish in her upbringing, in the values that she put into practice and trasured as being her own; I had my atlas by me, looking at her birthplace and the towns in Sweden that she writes about (making me wish to go and have a look up there myself one day). And she is also so American in rebuilding her life anew, in a new environment, with new people. And then we capture her personality and how she develops as years go by. A book to be read as a history book that conveys the real spirit of those who created a home away from home. One more thing. I think it' s becoming a rare book, judging from the prices, although some editiions are quite cheap. Buy it now, while it's still available! Good read!!
