Oxford Picture Dictionary English-Vietnamese: Bilingual Dictionary for Vietnamese speaking teenage and adult students of English (Oxford Picture Dictionary 2E) 2nd Edition

This is going to be very helpful for my in students who are leaning English!! It has topics that are important, but are not included in many books like-- how to prepare for an emergency, what different emergency instructions would be, and many other phrases that will be very helpful!! I definitely recommend this book as a fun, helpful, practical tool for learning English (or Vietnamese-- though English is the emphasis). The seller did a great job of mailing it quickly too!!

One of my Vietnamese parent's gave me some money to order this after I gave them the first one to use at home while they are learning English. It is so good that they plan to take their copy back to Vietnam. The pictures are clear, current and useful. Oxford is a high quality publisher. We use many of their dictionaries in various languages for our ELL classes. Some are bilingual and some are not. This one is in both languages which really makes it nice. The book is divided by subjects such as: home, school, food, shopping, clothes etc. Each page has some questions about the particular picture on that page. The only down side is that the questions are only in English so they may not be able to answer them. There is a workbook that goes with this but I didn't buy it. I was hooked on it after I found a Canadian rendition of it at a book sale. Worth the money.

As a recreational ESOL teacher, I have found all of the Bilingual Oxford Picture Dictionaries to be the student's new best friends. Where once they would just parrot back a word, once the OPD were introduced in thier own language, understanding -- learning was achieved.I love that words can be looked up in both English and the student's language. I also love that there are distinct themes.My only regret/ suggestion is there aren't more words. Can you please add more words in your next addition.We have used the OPD in French, Hatian Creole, Spanish, Brazillian Portueges, Chinese as well as the Vietnamese. I know we will continue to use these and other languages as the need presents.

Very good. I will take this to Vietnam to teach English. They have other English books in Hanoi which I will buy. This is a good root source, and I am a retired school teacher with a degree in Reading and English. For teaching English as a second language, one of the researcher said COMPREHENSIBLE INPUT is the most important element in teaching a second language. Matching the visuals with both English and Vietnamese is the best comprehensible input I can find, and especially in this particular book by OXFORDOR I will devise my own stories to teach my adult Viet learners. Go Vietnam. The Vietnamese people are the most hospitable and I am on my way to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with four of these books in my suitcase.

I really like this English-Vietnamese dictionary so much that I bought three more to give to each of my wife's family who have immigrated from Vietnam in the past few years. I love just looking at the pictures and then seeing both the English and Vietnamese words identifying the objects on the page by looking at the object's number below that has what it is in both languages. There are indexes in the back of the book in both languages so if you know the name of something, you can see what page it is on and find out what it is called in the other language. Very help

My first language is vietnamese and born in the states. However, my Vietnamese is not as fluent as I wished. So I ordered the Oxford Picture Dictionary and it was sooooo helpful. I can speak read and write Vietnamese, but more at a middle school level. I still find this book very useful. There are words I don't know that I can quickly scan thought the book and get the translation to Vietnamese. The pictures are clear with old colors. LOVE this book!! The first I ordered for myself and my friend enjoyed it as much as I did so I gave it to her and ordered another for myself!

Not what I was looking for. I was looking for a dictionary that had English words and then the definitions in Vietnamese. But it’s a neat book. Useful.
