I always look for French made barrettes when I need one as they are usually sturdy, well-made and good for med-thick hair. This one is nice, it has a silicone/rubber grip that holds even better than French barrettes without it. I got the tortoise but it's very dark, almost black, I would like a lighter color tortoise but this will do as it keeps my hair neat and pulled back in a pony tail better than elastic bands.

The first thing about these is they are well made! The clip locks in very well and all parts are good quality. They clip tightly which works well on thin hair and look good while staying where they were put!

Although the product description stated the size, I was still taken aback by how small these were compared to what I usually use. But they hold surprisingly well thanks to the gripper. As some reviewers have said, they are difficult to open because the clasp is so small, and they are pricey for what you get. I would say they are just a step up from snap clips.

This is a quality product. It is sturdy and well made. I have medium thick hair and the others I've tried don't hold my hair or they break. It is a classic tortoise shell look and a good size.

Came with two clips. One was bent so bad it wouldn’t close the other pulled out hair when taking it out. On the bright side they were packaged very nicely!

I bought the two smallest sizes. For very thin, fine hair. Love the 2.25 inch blue Barettes but not the 2.5 inch black ones. The 2.5 continually come unclipped, and as you can see from the photo, the clasp on the 2.5 (black) is narrower than the 2.25 inch (blue). Also the closing bar on the black Barette has fallen off numerous times. Have had no problems with the small barettes. I use both together.I will try the next largest size. Hope they will be oK. UPDATE; Bought the largest size (3 inches??) perfect in every way, sturdy and reliable hold.

Beautiful barrette, great quality, and does not damage my hair. It is a great staple at an excellent price.

I wanted set of barrettes to hold back my short hair during hot weather. The subtle two-time shading works well with my "salt & pepper" hair color. These are well made and don't slip.

Excellent, very good . I have very thick long hair and it works. Even for making a high ponytail. I will buy more of this product.

These may look just like the ones in Walmart but I guarantee you, they are nothing like them.These are high quality, LARGE clips that are really well made and can hold thick curly hair.So nice to buy something that isn’t made in China.These clips are made in France.

I have been using it for at least 4 months, and I can place it up with half of my hair or down with all my hair. No problem at all so far. It's a great look for work.

Really disappointed as I thought this was finally a quality hair Barnette. In less than one day, the first clip has already broken. The clasp isn’t very strong at all and I have baby done hair. I purchased the smaller size, it was half an inch longer than advertised (the measurement they gave was for the metal clip and not the full decorative part). It’s a very long Barnette for the small amount of hair it can hold. It’s also not black. In the sunlight, it looks burgundy. Happy to report that Amazon gave me a full refund with no problems.
