Outstanding Information; Perhaps Too Much Too Fast
I'm up to page 84 (I'm an as-yet-uninitiated Seeker): Ms. Curott's credentials are impeccable (p.263), and she certainly provides insights and techniques that I haven't come across in the 40+some books on Wicca that I've already read essentially all the text in. So far, this book appears to be an excellent resource ("It's a guide to awakening the divine magic in you....") for those wanting to benevolently use the skill/art/science of witchcraft (as is necessary to be able to be a Wiccan). The book is NOT meant to be "blitz-read": for the program to work, one will have to work the program. As far as I've read, I venture that this book covers a lot of Dedicant ("year-and-a-day") and first-year Initiate topics. This seems like a good book for the "Called" -- but are you called? There is a brief discussion , and the second exercise ("Guided Meditation: Divine Presence", p.26) will help. (For more advice, seek out an Initiated 2nd-Degree Wiccan.)However, for those not sure if Wicca is for them, or who are skittish about Wicca's beliefs and morality, I still recommend Jennifer Hunter's "21st Century Wicca: A Young Witch's Guide to Living the Magical Life".For those with loved ones who are exploring Wicca, there's Carl McColman's "When Someone You Love is Wiccan: A Guide to Witchcraft and Paganism for Concerned Friends, Nervous Parents and Curious Co-workers".I should mention that Ms. Curott has a website ("Resources", p.261), from which it APPEARS that additional training can be obtained. It must be noted however, that the real strength in Wicca and witchcraft is in the covens (see p.42-43 for example), and they prefer to train their way -- so "getting too far ahead of the game" by reading and following a guide might have unintended consequences. Consult an HPS for more advice.

Curott provides a good overview of Wicca for followers and outsiders
Years ago, I had an interest in Wicca and among my reading were books by Phyllis Curott. That path was not for me but earlier this year, a favorite manga series, The Ancient Magus' Bride, introduced a witch named Phyllis and that made me wonder if Curott was an inspiration for the character. I soon learned Curott was about to release her first new book in many years, so for old times' sake, I decided to read it. At her best, Phyllis Curott is an intelligent and engaging advocate for her cause and she does present a good overview of Wiccan practices. However, for a non-Wiccan reader such as myself, her mystic side can get to be a bit much. I had two antidotes. Sometimes, I would put her book aside and read H.L. Mencken, particularly his thoughts on religion. On a more positive note, I am a fan of the Discworld books of the late Terry Pratchett and Curott calls to mind a favorite character, Magrat Garlick, a sweet, well meaning witch (of course, if I were in trouble on Discworld, I'd sooner trust that uber-practical witch Granny Weatherwax). Since Pratchett is no longer with us, this book was like being able to to have Magrat for a visit. Overall, Wiccans will find this book instructive and those outside the path will receive some valuable information for better understanding the faith.

Grateful
The book is an interesting one. It is a memoir and an informational read. I am grateful and wrote in an attempt to educate the public of the misinformation and unnecessary fear of the Wicca crew.

Wicca Made Easy
Phyllis Curott has written an amazing book on Wicca which really will help you if you are looking to become Wiccan and don't know where to start. What I personally like about this book is that it is practical. You are not only reading about Wicca, but you are taking your first steps in it as well.May I suggest that if you are going to do the practical work, read through the book first and then take your time re-reading the book and doing the exercises in order. The perfect book for anyone wanting to take their first steps into Wicca.
