maXpeedingrods 2-Barrel 22R Carburetor TOY-505 Carb for Toyota Pickup 22R Engine 1981-1986 and 1987 (First Six Months) with Round Plug Connector, Automatic Choke 2.4L 2366cc 35290/C4036

I installed this carburetor on my dad’s 85 pickup and after running for a minute or two the engine would start idling rough and begin dying. I tried adjusting the carb but it seemed like it was already close to specs from the factory. After scratching my head and doing some research, I found that these carburetors have an idle valve screwed in on the passenger side. So I figured I’d swap the idle valve from the old carb and that’s when I realized the round 4 pin connector on the new carburetor was pinned incorrectly, causing the idle valve to shut off after a minute. I relocated the pins to the proper positions by using the connector on the old carb as a reference and after that the truck ran smoothly. This might have been a one time defect but I figured I’d mention it here just in case anyone else is having the same issue.

Purchased this for my dads 1994 Toyota truck. CAUTION: Read the comments other people have written. Some of the wiring will be wrong on the carburetor side so just trace the pigtail from the engine side or the old carburetor and adjust accordingly on the carburetor. I had three wires in the wrong slots. Took me an extra 15 minutes to swap em around. The carburetor works flawless thus far. Didn't have to make any tuning adjustments whatsoever. EXCELLENT value for the $$$.

As others have reported, the wires to the choke and the idle cut-off on the carburetor I received were inserted in the electrical connector in the wrong configuration. Trace the wires back on your old carb and compare to make certain it is wired correctly. It is very easy to re-arrange the pins/wires if you need to. Just pry out the back strain relief piece and slide it back on the wires. Then use a pick, tiny screwdriver, or paper clip to release the pins and pull them out from the back of the connector shell. The back strain relief piece is stretchy enough to get the pins though without cutting the wire. Re-assemble with the wires matching your old carburetor.The carburetor seems great after a quick test drive. Better than my truck has run in years without even doing any adjustments yet!

I bought 2 thinking they are new and they will just work find instead finding out the hard way they are nothing but a rubbish of china’s craftsmanship. I bought a rebuilt cab from O’reillys and man it work perfectly. So far is still running like new I had to spend more but it’s worth it. Sorry china

During install as per the other reviews the plug is pinned wrong as well as the quality control on the fitment of the throttle linkage is less than satisfactory carb was causing a high idle because of something holding the throttle linkage partially open.
