The Boys Omnibus Vol. 1 TPB (BOYS OMNIBUS TP 2018) Paperback – April 2, 2019

This is a great book! The book is even worst then the TV show (in a good way)!!! Love this book!

Pure brilliance with character interaction. Crude at times but damn entertaining! Hilarious and I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to pick up book 2.

I picked up this comic because I’ve become a big fan for the show itself, BUT to anyone reading this wanting to buy the books because they think it’ll give a peek to what may happen in the show. THINK AGAIN. The comic is quite different from the show, and personally I enjoy both in their respective media forms. And if you see the cover it says “The series that ‘inspired’ the hit show”. Keyword being inspired, lots of the characters have different personalities compared to the show. So don’t expect a complete copy and paste of the story. Of course it is an acquired taste to enjoy these types of stories, but if you did enjoy the show, you might enjoy this comic too. I sure did, some very hilarious/absurd moments.Another fun thing about reading these books and having seen the show, is connecting all the references or Easter eggs they placed in the show. Consider me very pleased 😉 the show writers did a brilliant job.

So comparing this to the tv show, it is much slower in pace but gives a lot more information and detail behind certain back stories and characters. There is still plenty of jaw dropping antics and mind blowing scenes. Its nice that the show didn't follow the novel series so closely that way its not just reading the same thing that you watched but you get much deeper info. It does get a bit boring and slow in certain areas but then heads start rolling or should I say poppin. LolThe art and layout both work really well for the series. Super graphic and most definitely adult humor and illustration 100%Storyline during the first omnibus is definitely a bit slow in parts but also very strong in others. I just felt the slow parts dragged heavily but the good party's passed so quickly, it left me wanting a more in depth storyline.

Great start, but I recommend reading further than this before watching season 1.

I watched the boys on amazon and didnt really get into it until the later seasons came out. Simply put I love this story I love its lore , the comics are completely different than the tv series. Alot more plot and way more to delve on in my opinion, i just had my first son and to pass time while we were waiting with baby I read this volume. I went to B&N to get the second issue of the omnibus but I fully expect to buy all 6 , they are a treat.

If want a fresh and different take on the super hero Genre please buy the first 3 Volumes and get thru the first volume, completely different than the show so don’t worry about spoiling the show for yourself. It’s full of twists and turns that will leave your mouth open, full of dark comedy and twisted sexual situations that will leave you running to the shower, it’s uncomfortable at times to read but I think that’s the feeling Garth Ennis wanted to project on readers. Best Anti Superhero Story out there, has a lot of themes about homophobia and Sexual Exploitation... I just wish it wasn’t hammered over my head with it over and over again.
