Brilliantly detailed and life-like, this Heron is incredibly light. It would be great deterrent by a pond but will need weighting down. Highly recommend product and seller.

I bought the plastic heron 4 years ago, it has been next to the pond in all weathers and still looks the same as new. I don't actually like the look (moulded plastic looks cheap and nasty) but the posh metallic birds on sale look nothing like a heron and this one does. I have herons living by a reservoir across the street so lots of herons fly over my pond, my neighbours pond has been cleared out by them several times. So far in the years since the plastic heron has been standing guard I've lost no fish, so he seems to be working. He's very lightweight so blows over with slightest breeze, I have 3 large rocks on his feet to keep him upright - I didn't use the "pole attachment" on his underbelly because it looked too flimsy to stand up to wind, I've found that he works fine with rocks on his feet. I move him regularly between 3 different positions next to the pond because I've been told that real herons would expect to see him using a range of feeding stations if he were a real heron! Anyway, I recommend him because although sadly he looks like a plastic heron, he has proven that he does the job of keeping the heron away from my pond full of large (18 year old) fish, and he's lasted well in all weathers.

Six of my larger fish disappeared from the pond thought I would give the heron a try as my fish had bred and left many fry.it looks quite good but , it is super lightweight and the stake that comes with it is not a good fit and I found useless I put some stones inside the heron and weighted it down with heavy stones . I don't think it is worth the money but it looks good.

This was bought to replace an identical one which must have been at least 15 years old but had faded to white and had a hole in its head.A perfect replacement - identical, and sturdy, so I have no doubt it will last.The only thing to watch for is that the pole can easily break (as it did with the last one) if you apply any pressure on it while the pole is attached. The angle of the pole as it meets the Heron's 'underneath' meant a small chunk of the pole broke off. Not a problem.I did have to pin down the heron's feet to the ground though, as it kept toppling in high winds.

A perfect example of something that was made to never work, just get the sale.it looks like a heron that is the only thing that it has going for it.Made from thin poorly made injection molded plastic, the legs are so loose that they fall off, the ground steak is a plastic tube cut to a point that is only long enough to go in the ground about 10 inches and the nub on the body is too thin for it to fit so it just falls off, there is a hole it can go in but that is too large.The paint comes off in the rain.A product that was designed and made with zero regard for the end user and perfectly designed for landfill.As there is no quality alternative to this product I decided to it keep and rectify all of the faults mention above.

Great deterrent for pigoens, who keep sitting (and doing extra activity) at pond! But way too lightweight. They give you a white plastic pole to stick it in the ground, but honestly cheapens the look. I ended up filling a flowerpot base with concrete post to erect for windy areas.
