Especially the color, my daughter loves it. It's also durable and portable. Easy to clean. And the tuning is fine.

This recorder is a nice color. Much prettier than the one I used in elementary school, which I would describe as an unpleasant shade of oatmeal. I can't say that it sounds any more pleasant than other recorders when played by an elementary schooler, but that would be asking a lot. Sounds fine from behind a door!

Out of pity for the teacher, you also don't want to get the cheapest plastic whistle you can find. If you've ever walked past a third grade group during music period, your ears will agree that the teacher should be canonized as a step towards sainthood, or else he or she may be wearing high quality earplugs.This Yamaha recorder is an ideal choice for this application. Not only is the translucent blue a cool and unusual color, but the recorder separates into three pieces for easy cleaning. Therein lies the minor drawback with this instrument, as it doesn't come with the cleaning rod. It however comes with a plastic sleeve and a fingering chart, and is sturdy enough to last until Grade Six and higher. My daughter was going to learn recorder in her music class so we got her her own so that she would be less likely to pick up someone elses and rock out with the germ train. She was super excited about it and absolutely loves it. She has serenaded us more than one occasion. It honestly has an okay sound from what I remember from playing recorder as a kid. So, no complaints! (the no earplugs is a joke...but..true...none the less)

Wanted something to fool around on, that I could take traveling, and not be heart broken if it was lost. Saw the review by a professional recorder player, and thought, why not?This is a GREAT little recorder! Easy to make the octave shifts, pretty color, lots of fun, and for the price you can get one for everyone!

Performance is key for a recorder and this passes.

Purchased this a gift for one of my friends children . Recorder seems well made, & they enjoy playing it :-)
