Q: useing blue devil radiator sealer do you need to flush radiator first

I think it says to drain and flush all coolant and to use their flush chemicals before using the sealer. My friend used the sealer on his engine and all he did was drain and flush thoroughly with clear water before using the sealer. He had good results. I am always a little critical about a product that infers that if you don't use their brand of prep the product may not perform as expected. Is there a real potential or for some chemical reaction without that particular prep chemical or is it a gimmick to sell more of their product or is it an out if the product fails so they won't have to make good on a guarantee? My friend was happy. If I have something that needs sealing I would probably use the Blue Devil sealant. I would be a little more thorough in flushing first.

The directions on the bottle specifically say: "NOTE: DIRTY (OR CLOGGED) SYSTEMS SHOULD BE CHEMICALLY FLUSHED BEFORE INSTALLING BLUEDEVIL RADIATOR & BLOCK SEALER".

Q: Can this help if you have a cracked block due to not having enough protection from a deep freeze?

My opinion is that it depends on the crack. I don’t think it will help you
