No more poop snacks
After doing a deep dive online to determine root causes for my dog eating her own poop, I came to Amazon to see what, if any, products were available to correct this behavior. I found & purchased Nixit. Within 2 weeks the gross behavior stopped. Life got very busy & somehow stopped adding Nixit to her dry dog food. Within a few weeks she resumed poop eating. I have found over the last 2 years that Nixit is a necessity to keep her from the poop hunt in the backyard.

Terrible product!
Terrible product! Gave my dog horrible diarrhea and messed his stomach up. Took days for him to recover from this stuff. Do not recommend and does not work. Makes stomach issues worse!!!!

didn't work for my dog
I started out by buying one jar to test. Warning- if you have more than 1 dog to treat 1 jar will not last even the initial two weeks at one scoop for each dog as the scoop in the jar is quite large. I had to order 2 more jars just to get me through about a month to test it out on my two dogs. One of my dogs doesn't eat poop, the other does. I fed this stuff to both of them because the one that eats poop prefers the other dog's poop. This stuff didn't seem to slow her down at all. That is not saying that this stuff doesn't work, it just didn't work for my dog. Every dog seems to be individual and your results may be different - worth a try anyways.

Didn't Work for My Dog
After seeing a "best of" list and this was on top I decided to try it since other products I had tried either stopped working or didn't work at all. This doesn't work for my dog at all. It's as if he's never taken it, and I'm following the directions to the letter... I finally just stopped giving it to him and we'll look for something else...

CAUTION!!! Explosive Diarrhea and vomiting within 24 hours!
I have an 8 month old Great Dane who’s been delighted to eat their poop, it’s almost become a game for him with my wife; with me, he stops as soon as I catch him. We thought this might help with getting him to cut the habit….well, not so much. It arrived yesterday with no instructions or anything about how much to give a dog in relation to their body weight as most anything else edible you buy for your dog, comes with instructions. So, we gave Harvey the first scoop last night, mixed in with his food, he loved it. This morning, I gave him another scoop mixed in with his food, he loved it. I take him out to go to the bathroom, I couldn’t tell for certain if he ate any poop, but it was also 6:00am and still dark out. He gulps down some water, goes back in his kennel and takes a short nap until my wife gets up. She lets him out for a bit before she goes to work and then he’s in his kennel until I get home from work. Today, my wife got home early. She sends me a text about the house smelling like death, I don’t see the text until later. She calls me and explains that Harvey had explosive diarrhea in his kennel, she let him out as soon as she found him in the mess and was trying to get him outside to get him cleaned up and make sure he was ok. But no, Harvey made a pit stop in my home office and projectile vomitted all over, and it was the consistency of diarrhea, and smelled even worse, it was almost a full quart of bile and whatever else was in his stomach. Harvey wasn’t finished though, as soon as my wife heard, and, maybe milliseconds later, inhaled the stench of steaming glory Harvey just coated the office in, she hurried him outside. Who knew that he was also going to projectile vomit on the deck too! The minute he got through the doorway, he just let it out, all over the deck and stairs. He wasn’t finished yet, now he had one more mission, squirt out poop in a wide spray across the yard, while doing the bunghole flex walk, and then turning around to play and jump around the yard, only sure to step in it with at least two paws. We have a security camera over Harvey’s kennel, we don’t watch the camera 24/7 like stalker dog parents, but we do try to check in on him often throughout the day. He’s a very large puppy, cooped up in a kennel for a good portion of the day, so having the ability to check on him and make sure he’s not escaping the kennel, or worse, is a good thing…except neither one of us checked on the camera today. I did check the playback after spending several hours cleaning with my wife. In the playback, Harvey got a little stir crazy about 20 minutes before my wife got home, and when I say stir crazy, what I really mean is explosive diarrhea, heaping amounts, all over his bedding and kennel. In addition to it coming out profusely of one end, it was being lapped up and recycled by the other end, almost simultaneously. Probably one of the grossest things I’ve watched, and one of the saddest, on my security cameras. So I caution you. Either don’t buy this MSG laden crap, or introduce to your dogs diet very slowly…..unless you enjoy your house smelling like a sour mixture of vomit, diarrhea and hopelessness 12 hours after you did a deep clean from the Explosive Holes of Harvey show.

Nixit Works But Adjust Amount You Give According to Dog Size
I have shih tzu and I have had a hard time getting them to stop eating poop. I have tried putting hot sauce on the poop, I have tried putting "bitter yuck" on the poop and I tried an herbal anti-coprophagic tablet for weeks with no results, all three of them still ate their own poop. Turns out they like hot sauce and bitter yuck. Finally I ordered Nixit as a last resort as I really did not want to give my dogs MSG but I was at a loss of what else to do. Well the jar of it says to give dogs 1 scoop in their food and I did that the very first day and 2 out of the 3 shih tzu vomited back up their entire meal. I thought about it and there is no weight or size guidlines, so basically 1 scoop for a Chihuahua or a St. Bernard??? I talked to my friend who told me Nixit worked for her and found out she substituted 1/2 scoop in the directions as she also has smaller dogs. I measured the scoop and it is about 1 tablespoon so I gave 1/2 tablepoon in lieu of the full scoop as directed. And I had no stomach problems with 1/2 tablespoon and it works, all 3 no longer eat poop.

So So product
We purchased this vet recommended product after several "home remedies" failed. Our 8 month old Havanese didn't respond as well as we had hoped. It worked better than some other brands, but didn't cure the nasty stool recycling problem. Wouldn't buy again. Hope he outgrows this habit.
