ER: Season 15 (The Final Season)

Final season roundup
I must tread lightly here, in order to not let any spoilers out of the bag.The first thing for which I give the writers credit is how they finish a series premise which does not have a natural ending, such as the end of Jeb Bartlett's term as president, and the election of a new president on "The West Wing." I will say that it ends with one great arc traceable to the early seasons and to Noah Wyle's career and family.By the time the season is over, virtually all the lead characters return in some way or other, and are seen in one or more episodes, even those who died or were killed in the course of the show, such as Mark Green and Robert Romano. One aspect of ER to which I never quite adapted was the large number of major cast roles who either died, were seriously injured, left under a cloud, or were fired for some reason or other. To be sure, when the whole show is based on what walks in the main entrance on the spur of the moment, being either a seriously ill patient or an irascible new boss, you need a lot of things going on among the principle characters to maintain an interesting show. And, in a long running show, sooner or later, cast members must move on.This season is no different, but it is balanced by a really rewarding finale. The major in-season arc involves Catherine Banfield, the new head of the ER, played by Angela Basset and Courtney B. Vance as Russell Banfield, her husband. Both are strong, and hold up their end, but perhaps not as strong in the role as head of the ER as William H. Macy and Stanley Tucci, each in their own way.In all, the show certainly goes out with a bang. I'm surprised no one has created a spin-off; however, I suspect most cast members have probably had their fill of the ER.

A fine end to one of the best shows ever
I have always looked at ER as two different series. One that lasted through season 8 when Anthony Edwards decided to leave the show and the one that remained on the air until the end. Personally I would have liked to have seen the show end after the 8th season. I think had the shows that told the story of Dr Green's death been the series finale the show would have gone out on a high point and would have never been accused of hanging on too long. That said, season 15 blends the two series together. For those of us that were fans from the beginning, it brought back many of the old cast including a flashback episode that could bring Anthony Edwards back for an entire show (as well as Paul McCrane and Laura Innes for cameos), as well as appearances by Eric LaSalle, Sherry Stringfield, Alex Kingston, George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, and Noah Wyle (for several episodes). It also wrapped up the story lines for the current cast. Many people complain about the episode in which Clooney was brought back. I think it was the best that could be done to give him his "own" episode where he could do more than just make a cameo appearance in the finale like Sherry Stringfield, Alex Kingston, and Laura Innes did. While the story line was contrived and would not happen in real life it was really the only way, aside from having Carter go out to Seattle, to have a reason for someone from County to be interacting with those characters. Given that he was really 1a and/or 1b along with Anthony Edwards on the show in the early years I think it was better to do what they did so he could be in more than just one or two scenes.I think the way the show ended with Morris (of all people) taking over as the lead character, and having Carter passing the baton (so to speak) to Dr. Green's daughter who had become a prospective medical student was the best way to end the series. It was perfect to have Noah Wyle be the last person we see on screen since the show started with his character as the wide eyed medical student back in episode 1.

This is one of the greatest tv drama series ever !
I love this show I have watched this tv drama since it aired season 1 thru season 15 and it is the best tv drama series ever this is whyIt ran for so long but as any show you really hate it come to an end because I wanted to last longer in every episode you are going to be on the edge of your seat and you can’t wait to see happen in the next season or episode .The storyline and writing is great and actor and actress are even greater because they bring so muchto the show and each character has a different personality and that makes the show even greater. This as real and accurate as you can get and I by me saying that it really show’s what the real doctor’s and nurse’s go thru at a real ERIt will have your heart beating faster than it was before I don’t think any other tv drama series that can come close to what ER is.After ER final season which was great and the other tv show House and it 8 season I haven’t watched any other show . To those individuals who have never watched ER check it out and I grantee you will not be disappointed !This is television show’s should be made to “Michael Crichton The Creator of ER who passed away in I 2009 may you R.I.P.
