Talking Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer

Althought this unit does not have a remote outdoor sensor, it does have some nice features such as a silence mode that cancels the hourly annoucement option during the hours you may be sleeping. It can also be set up to announce the tmeperture as an alarm clock, so much nicer to hear than the bleep from an alarm clock. The voice is pleasant to hear and is easy to understand. You can also set it for Celcius or Farenheit if you like. Easy to set up, and simple to use. great product at a great price.

I bought this for my elderly brother who is disabled and mostly blind. He loves it! The audio feature tells him the time every hour from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. He loves being informed.

I recently purchased the second one of these for my 97 year old mother. (After several years, the first one needed to be replaced.) Mother is nearly blind and cannot read a conventional thermometer. The talking thermometer solves this problem quite well. The voice is clear and she has no problem hearing it. Setting buttons are hidden under a sliding cover, so that only the TALK button is exposed, making it easy to find. She also appreciates the min/max feature that tells the highest and lowest temp over the past 24 hours, answering the question, "how cold did it get last night."My criticisms: The exterior temp sensor is wired, so that the thermometer must be placed near a window. This limits both where the outside sensor and inside unit can be placed. A wireless sensor would allow more flexibility and better placement of the outside sensor (e.g., to keep it out of the sun). Also, the voice announces 3 time in succession when the temperature goes above 100 or drops below 32. This can be annoying when the temperature drops below freezing in the middle of the night. And, those times when the temperature fluctuates around freezing it can get really annoying. There does not seem to be any way to turn this feature off. (Mother puts a pillow over it at such times.)

I had some trouble getting the unit to announce only when I press the talk button - it has a function to announce every hour - used it with the talk mode off to solve my issue

I gave this one star only because giving it none was not an option. The audio on this themometer was garbled. It read out the temperatures without being prompted, often during the night while I was trying to sleep. Two AAA batteries lasted less than a week. If all you wish is to throw tour money away there are many better places to throw it than on this less than useless object.

Wonderful unit my last one my father bought for me and he has been gone 10 yrs now. I like hearing it at all hours let me know how cold it is out. It’s not obnoxiously loud. You can set it to not talk at night if you want. I went and bought 2 while I could get it.
