The Best Yet of the Under Suspicion Novels
Of the four "Under Suspicion" novels published so far, this was my favorite. I enjoyed the way the authors repeated just enough of the backstory so that the reader could remember how the recurring characters are related. Also, if you are not reading the books in sequence, the authors refer to previous mysteries without revealing exactly how they were solved, so if you happen to read book number four first, you could still enjoy the first three novels. In this installment about a reality TV show that focuses on suspects in unsolved murders, a wealthy heiress has fallen or been pushed from the top of a building during a prestigious fundraiser. Suspicion falls on her new boyfriend, her children and relatives who might not want to share a potential inheritance with a younger suitor. Even as much as the suspenseful twists and turns of the mystery, I enjoy the development of the personal relationships among the television crew and their friends and families, especially the love life of the lead investigator, Laurie Moran. I was not thrilled with the ending of book number three, but this ending more than made up for it. Bring on book number five!

A NEW AND REALLY GOOD MYSTERY
Another great book by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke. Laurel is back, she has a tv show "Under Suspicion ". This time to find out who killed a lady who was thrown off the top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There are plenty of suspects each with their own reason to have killed her. This story moves fast uncovering new facts, alot of twists and turns, many interesting characters and yes some romance. It all blends nicely and perfectly.I downloaded the story today and just finished it today. It's that good. These two authors truly know how to write keeping you interested and yearning for more.I honestly did not want this story to end!

Family dynamics (3.5*s)
Laurie Moran’s new on-air legal expert for her TV show Under Suspicion, Ryan Nichols, has suggested they next examine the cold case of the wealthy widow Virginia Wakeling being pushed from the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art some three years ago. But the only suspect in the case Ivan Gray runs a successful gym, Punch, largely financed by Virginia. Isn’t this simply a classic case of a much younger man taking advantage of an elderly widow? Is Ryan influenced by the fact that Ivan is his personal trainer? When Laurie starts digging, it turns out the family members who inherited from Virginia and other associated people are not all that harmonious. Despite their insistence that Ivan is guilty, did one or more of them have a motive to eliminate Virginia?Like the other books in this series, the story moves well. The main characters are likeable. It may not be the best in the series but is entertaining.

A BREATH-TAKING MYSTERY
Laurie Moran’s professional life is a success—her television show Under Suspicion is a hit, both in the ratings and its record of solving cold cases. But her romantic break from former host Alex Buckley has left her with on-air talent she can’t stand—Ryan Nichols—and a sense of loneliness, despite her loving family. Now Ryan has suggested a new case. Three years ago, Virginia Wakeling, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and one of the museum’s most generous donors, was found in the snow, after being thrown from the museum’s roof on the night of its most celebrated fundraiser, the Met Gala. The leading suspect then and now is her much younger boyfriend and personal trainer, Ivan Gray. Ivan runs a trendy, successful boutique gym called Punch—a business funded in no small part by the late Virginia—which happens to be the gym Ryan frequents. Laurie’s skepticism about the case is upended by a tip from her father’s NYPD connection, and soon Laurie realizes there are a bevy of suspects—including Virginia’s trusted inner circle. As the Under Suspicion crew pries into the lives of a super wealthy real estate family with secrets to hide, danger mounts for several witnesses—and for Laurie. My Thoughts: From the very first page of Every Breath You Take (An Under Suspicion Novel) , I was drawn into the story of Virginia Wakeling, a wealthy woman who fell (or was pushed) from the roof of the Met during a celebrated fundraiser. Her much younger boyfriend, Ivan Gray, was a major suspect of the family, but the police did not have enough evidence to charge him, and, in fact, the accusations of the family members were all they really had.I enjoyed the way Laurie Moran handled the investigation, and even how she found a way to co-exist with Ryan, the egotistical new on-air talent. He so clearly believed in the innocence of his friend and trainer, Ivan, that Laurie feared his ability to remain objective. However, she gradually saw another side of him in his willingness to set those feelings aside in order to find the answers.Laurie’s talent for following her instincts and the ability to pursue fresh angles made the story a great page-turner that kept me guessing. With each new revelation, the possibilities of finding the truth seemed to increase.Would Laurie’s search for the truth put her own life in danger? Would an irate killer bring her to the brink of disaster? There were numerous red herrings until we unexpectedly saw who the killer had to be. Meanwhile, some new possibilities for her sidelined relationship with Alex kept me intrigued, just as the case started heating up. 5 stars.

Sadly....Predictable
As with the other books in this series, not even halfway thru the book I'd already figured out who the killer was and how the story was going to end. As per usual the main character Laurie gets in bind and the cop father and lawyer boyfriend swoop in and save the day.....so predictable and boring!!!MHC needs to stop collaborating with other authors and get back to her original roots! I'd rather reread her older books over and over again, then these last few she's come out with lately. Sadly this book didn't hold my attention, but finished it none the less. I'm hoping this will be the last book in this boring series....

Excellent writing, a really good read.
The writer's ability to take you with them on the journey is a rare gift.Totally engrossing, read it in one sitting - except when my dog's desperation got through to me & we had to go out!A cold case, involving the death of an older woman, with her younger lover being the prime person of interest since she died. Plenty of red herrings, but the real culprit has gone undetected. His alibi verified,, until an inexpensive piece of jewellery is absent from photos taken during he Met Gala, but in place prior to the opening.Very good ending, quick paced throughout with surprise ending.

BORING!
This has got to be the most boring tedious book I have ever read. Not much evidence of Mary HC except the usual happy ending. Not a patch on her earlier books - Still watch Cry in the Night genre. Total waste of money!

“Under suspicion” life continues for its creators
A staple of Mary Higgins-Clark novels is stamped throughout this chapter in the life of Laura and her familyThe intricate design of the characters and the interaction between them keeps you turning pages when you should have been sleeping, well worth reading for people from different categories not just thrillers

I love these Under Suspicion books - the idea for these stories is really good and every one of them keeps you guessing "who dun it" until more or less the end - every story is different it just has the same people sorting out the crime - fully recommend.

Met Gala Gets Murderous.....
Enjoyable murder mystery from Higgins Clark/ Burke collaboration which kept me reading in one sitting. Short, snappy chapters add to enjoyment. Escapist and entertaining. Lovers of a character driven mystery should enjoy.
