Three years ago, I moved from lush and moist Portland, Oregon, to the desert of Idaho. Within weeks, I looked like the Joker. My lips were cracked and splitting at the edges, beet red, and burning no matter what I put on them. I caked on Aquaphor ointment and petroleum jelly, Neosporin, and dozens of chapsticks and NOTHING could save my poor lips. It went on for weeks, maybe even a month!Finally I found the answer. It was the night time. That was when my lips were exposed and suffering the most, and once I found this lip repair cream - I kid you not - I have not missed a single night of applying it to my lips, in 3 years I haven’t missed a night. It protects them all night long and gives them the moisture barrier that they need to make it in this dry climate for 8 hours at a time.I have given this cream away as gifts to visitors who also aren’t used to the dry climate. It lasts a good long time. I want to say each little container lasts about 6 months or more. It goes on so smooth and buttery - I love the feel of it, but better yet, I love how it has completely rescued my poor burning lips.

I keep this little pot right next to my bed so I can easily apply it every single night before bed. A lot of the other reviews says it works after just one use but with my own personal experience, that is not the case. I really started seeing a difference after a bout of week of consistent use but I was also suffering from incredibly cracked, dry lips. There is no scent or flavor really, and a little bit goes a really long way. Highly suggest this product if you want an easy fix to lip dryness!

I tried this out of desperation, when my lips were chapped, cracking and painful this winter. I first tried Black Jack, then Burts Bees, then Aquafor- 2 weeks and still bad. Those petroleum based lip ointments did nothing but make my lips worse. This lip balm has a slightly sweet, natural smell. No flavor. It feels nice on, and doesn't leave a super shiny, obvious gloss that looks like I'm drooling on myself. I use it all day, and slather it on thick before bed. 3 days later my lips were much better, and I could smile pain-free again. Bought it twice bc it's so good. Only wish it wasn't in a jar bc it's a little awkward to put on in public, and not so hygienic with my finger in the jar.

I rarely post reviews anywhere. I have had years of extremely chapped upper lips in the Winter. It may be that since my nose runs constantly, it dries out my upper lip. This is the only product that REALLY works. It took a few days but my upper lip has completely healed. My advice is to fork out the 8 bucks and change. You will not be sorry!

Smells/tastes like vanilla play-doh. It’s a little off-putting sometimes. I like to apply generously to my lips especially corners of my mouth where I used to get cracks. I did not experience any irritation, breakouts, or other negative side effects. The jar is cute and small. I like jars these days because I like to scoop up every little ounce left inside. None wasted. The consistency/texture is solid wax, similar to lip balms in a stick. It is gritty but I don’t mind. It melts on my lips during application. Weirdly I kind of enjoy that texture. As if I’m gently exfoliating. It’s not a matte finish as it claims. How could it be? It is a lip balm. It isn’t high shine or juicy like a gloss so I can see why it's called "matte." It has a subtle sheen. It is lightweight, non-sticky and comfortable on the lips. This could be used daytime. I want something a little bit more moisturizing or thick especially at nighttime. This is not it. I think this lip repair night treatment could be popular among men. They usually don’t like intense moisturizers. My lips are not currently in need of repair so I do not have an opinion when it comes to that. I am using it as a preventative. So far it is effective at that. Overall, it's decent quality but I don't think I'll repurchase this lip repair for these reasons: (1) playdoh smell/taste (2) not moisturizing enough for nighttime.I love O’Keeffe’s other products such as Working Hands and Healthy Feet. I want to try their body lotion next!-----------------*UPDATE/EDIT* (Dec 2024)I am currently using their unscented lip balm in a stick format and I am liking it. It has no weird smell/taste. It feels more moisturizing surprisingly.

Really helps dry lips. During heating season my lips get painfully dry. This stuff helps protect them, allowing them time to repair themselves. No odd smell, nor is there any real taste. The pot isn't ideal, but does survive better than a stick in warm environments. There is a slight grittiness I wish wasn't there, but overall it's good stuff.

I have tried every single lip repair, balm, oil and gloss and still struggled with chapped and cracked lips. I actually appreciated having to wear masks during covid because i could finally hide my ugly lips. I've probably spent thousands of dollars in the last 50 years trying to get nice lips. I received this product only a few days ago and my lips have never ever looked this good! No cracks, no peeling, no raw areas. I'm truly impressed!! I'm going to junk my bags and bags of lip stuff and ONLY use this going forward. I will certainly be buying again and again!
