Practical Science for use PK-12! Let's go outdoors and learn!
Teaching in a rural school district, where I can walk down the hall to take my students outside, I have been fortunate to to borrow ideas from Outdoor Science: A Practical Guide, even for my high school students. I particularly borrowed ideas from Chapter 5, Reading and Writing about Nature, section "Writing About the Seasons" with my freshmen science students since we incorporate Earth Science concepts in our Integrated Physical Sciences. I also have my students listen to a story about weather which incorporates weather, wetlands, and writing. Social studies integration is also important at the high school level and when my physical science students learn about collecting data, they build their own sundials; again borrowing from Rich's book Chapter 6 Social Studies, Its About Time and Human Sundial. If I can integrate not just the sciences but social studies, history, reading, and writing skills while also teaching science, I hope to provide my students with a deeper understanding to the connections of science, learning, and their world. Rich's book gave me guidance and ideas that I can use with high school students, and just as importantly, with my nephews, nieces, and grandchildren!

Like the idea of the book. Looking for ideas but many of them are online. Great couple sections on logistics of working with parents and admins on outdoor experiences.
