MacBook Air 2017 M3 chip
I ordered a 2017 MacBook Air with the M3 chip instead on the intel i5 or i3 and I am so happy. Although the product was refurbished I am pleasantly surprised at how amazing it works and how great of shape it came in. There is one small scratch on the top but honestly I don't care because the price point was amazing and the product I got was exactly as described. I would 100% recommend anyone to buy this Mac.

Great condition, arrived quickly!
THIS IS A LONG REVIEW SO ITS SEPARATED INTO 3 PARTS WITH AN UPDATE TO COME. SKIP TO WHAT IS RELEVANT TO YOU AND I HOPE THIS HELPS!THE BACKGROUND: I am a masters student and visual artist. I used apple products solely to do both my school work and art pieces. up until now I was using a 2013 Macbook Pro and it finally became so obsolete I was forced to upgrade. normally I would go straight to the apple store and spend entirely too much money for my students budget, however my younger sister recently bought a refurbished MacBook Air on amazon that works wonders so I thought I'd give it a try.THE FIRST IMPRESSION: First things first, this arrived promptly! It literally made it to me within less than 7 days of ordering it and before the estimated arrival time. The reviews for this MacBook were pretty mixed, but I noticed the the bulk of the bad reviews were: packaging complaints and cosmetic complaints. With the understanding that this is a refurbished computer, personally, I didn't mind those two things. Mine came in a standard computer shipping box, though it could've been packed more securely I have no complaints there. As far as cosmetics, there were 3 scratches/smudges that are so minuscule you can't even see them in the photos I've posted. Besides, my preference is to cover my laptop in stickers and a clear case so none of the cosmetic issues will be seen either way in my case. As far as the functionality of the laptop It turns on and runs perfectly so far. The screen is bright, the keyboard lights up and dims, it opens and shuts just fine. I was able to easily connect to the internet and attach my Apple ID, information and preferences. You can upgrade for free to the latest operating system for free (which I did) or choose to keep the one that it comes installed with. All in all, I am completely satisfied with this purchase as of 2 days in, but stay tuned for an update closer to the end of my 90 day return period.THINGS TO CONSIDER: I would just like to note that this laptop while in great condition is extremely small and delicate. If you are someone that has a high risk of this thing being dropped, hit, smushed I would really consider looking at a MacBook pro instead. I previously owned one for years before switching to this and it survived a lot of aggressive movements. I attached a photo of the 12" MacBook air next to my 11" iPad Pro to illustrate how tiny and thin this thing is.

Not as Advertised, Damaged
A few things to note:First, Laptop that came was damaged on the corner. It was packaged with no shipping peanuts or cushion. The right corner of the screen at the hinge was dented in, and the laptop couldn’t close all the way! There was also discoloration to the screen. This renders the laptop already unusable.Second, the laptop received was NOT an I5 Intel chip as advertised, and did not have 512GB storage. It came with the M-Core chip AND 256GB of storage. That is a huge reduction in value and usability in comparison. NOT worth $300 in this state, let alone $600!Third, I had to pay to ship this back, over $40. That was the cheapest option in my area. I shouldn’t have to pay for returning this! For $600, this is a horrible product and I am really upset the company is Mis-advertising a really bad product. For $600-700, buy a used M1 MacBook Air instead. If you really want a 12 inch MacBook, be careful where you purchase it!

Unit arrive promptly in Apple packaging and in mint condition
I confess I'm a "cult" fan of the MacBook 12. I bought two for the house when the 2017's came out - "his and hers." However, I wish that I could have gotten one with the i5 or even better the i7 with 16mg of ram. So this week when Apple announced they were discontinuing the line I eventually spotted this unit on Amazon. It was significantly less in cost than other colors. Could it really be because it was "gold?" I took a chance. An i5 unit with twice the storage as my first ones. Well the unit didn't make it in one day but a lone motorcyclist showed up at 9 am the following morning - with just my package. The MacBook was shrink-wrapped in an original apple box and all of the packaging looked new. At first I thought I saw some scuff marks but they were on the wrapping- interesting. The computer itself is in mint, like-new, condition. The first thing I did was look up the cycles on the battery and there were only 9. The computer was probably a return used only for a very short period of time. I had to upgrade it first to Catalina before migrating my data from my old MacBook - destined for a family member in need. I have it set up to run Parallels and Windows 10, Office, etc. Everything is perfect. The key to this unit as far as longevity and warranty is really the lone usb-c port. If it goes bad (and I know of two which did, both, coincidentally, in the rose-gold flavor) there's no way to charge it without getting it replaced. All I can say is this unit "renewed" arrived looking more like new, and the original apple packaging and power supply were a nice touch. All in all pleased especially considering how much I saved compared to the other i5's available in silver or gray.

Condition
The MacBook itself had several dents and definitely not in excellent condition like it claimed it was on the page.

Be careful
The laptop I purchased is in excellent condition and meets my needs. The major concern was it was listed as a 2018 model when it is actually an early 2016 model.
