Lego does the X-Men right
Very nice set. The Sentinel is very posable with multiple ball joints and looks pretty threatening at twice the height of a minifig. It also has 2 flick-fire missiles and comes in a color scheme similar to Magneto's, a "bad guy" identifier. The X-Jet is bigger than it looks in the illustration, and has moveable wings, flick-fire missiles, and 2 hidden spring missiles. It's surprisingly roomy inside, with seats for a pilot and a navigator plus two passengers, so it can hold all three good guys with room to spare for one more. There is also a removable tool chest and a computer terminal for the passengers as well as controls for the crew.As per minifigs, they are pretty impressive as well. Magneto comes with a piece of metal to fly around on and has a purple outfit with white detailing, a red cape and red helmet. He has a double-sided face and a white hairpiece (but I like the helmet better). Cyclops is probably least impressive: though his navy blue and yellow uniform matches the X-Jet well, he's not very detailed and doesn't even have a hairpiece, so I think Lego could have done a better job. Wolverine was one of the main reasons I got the set, and he stands up well. He wears his brown and yellow uniform and comes with a hairpiece, his cowl, a double-sided face, and 2 silver claws plus an extra in case you lose one. Like the other minifigs, he's not hugely detailed, but he looks cool, especially with his face with white googles beneath the cowl. Yes, I prefer the cowl; that's why I bought the set. Last but not least is Storm, who is one of the crown jewels alongside Magneto and Wolverine. She is the most detailed of all, with back and front printing like the others, leg printing, a double-sided face, and a cool cape. Her black outfit is very nicely rendered, with muscle lines, areas of brown skin, and gold detailing. Like the others, her head has an angry face with glowing eyes and a calm face with ordinary eyes; I like the calm one better. Her cape actually goes over her hands, but once it does, it stays that way. It's made of a soft black fabric, so she can sit inside the X-Jet without rumpling it. She also comes with two blue-and-purple lightning bolts for the "storm" effect, and these can actually be stowed inside the front of the X-Jet without too much trouble. You can do the same with Wolverine's claws, but I just leave them on (in his hands) for obvious reasons. All in all, Lego does a very nice job with one of my favorite sets of all time. Though Cyclops tends to disappoint, everything else is pretty fantastic, and there aren't too many annoying stickers, either. Yes, it's fifty bucks, but it's fifty bucks well spent.

Takes me back to the 70's as a kid...
Terrific set for play or for display, and the minifigure set is terrific. It's a fun build too, as you get to assemble the Sentinel in a relative short time, and the Blackbird comes together relatively quickly as well. If there is one complaint, did we really need yet another Magneto? I highly advise folks to look into minifigures by MinifigFX for instance for other members of the X-Men from the period - there is an awesome Colossus, Nightcrawler and multiple sources for a period Green Phoenix/Red Phoenix as well. A little work can turn up a good Professor X - (use the wheelchair piece from LEGO and the Lex Luthor mnifig), and oh, how about a Mystique (MCU) from MinfigFX as well? One thing I will say, the Storm minifigure alone is worth price of admission, by far the best look for the character and the cape which connects at the wrists and head.... its glorious! Another note, while the Blackbird officially seats four, there is ample room to stand another figure behind the 2nd seat in the cockpit... you can easily fit 5 minifigs. If you dare to, removing the tool cabinet in the 2nd compartment and you can place yet another minifigure inside. It's amazing how space efficient this design is, the monstrous in comparison LEGO Quinjet from the first movie has so little space to carry minifigs it's laughable.

The Blackbird is beautiful
I usually don't review lego sets because there are almost always a ton of reviews up already, but I had to let you know that the Blackbird is one or the more beautiful vehicles we have built (and we've built a bit since my son got into legos). It immediately became his most favorite vehicle out of the birthday haul of legos. Plus, you get Wolverine (hair and cowl), Magneto (hair and helmet), Storm wth a very nice cape, and Cyclops. The Sentinel is also a great piece. As another reviewer noted, it has a ton of articulation points and it is a fun addition to our lego battles.Overall, you get some great minifigures, a super looking jet, and a fun robot. Even if you aren't excited about the minifigures, this is a very nice set.

Sadly only one of two X-Men Lego sets out there.
Meet the X-Men! Wolverine and Magneto were already in a previous set in alternate attire. But exclusive to this set are Cyclops and Storm. Wolverine comes with his cowl(which can be replaced with his black hair piece) and a double sided face in his classic brown and yellow suit as seen in the 80's X-Men comics. Storm comes with her classic black suit and a unique cape that attaches to her wrists like in the comics as well as an alternate face and blue lightning bolts. Magneto comes in a purple suit and with a white hair piece (which can be replaced with his infamous helmet) and a bigger platform than the 2x2 round plate from the Chopper Showdown set. And now the main attraction. The Blackbird and the Sentinel. Two very important things from the X-Men universe. The Blackbird, the X-Men's personal plane, comes with four seats, two flick missiles and two spring fired missiles. (WARNING: Spring missiles can be hazardous to eyes. Be extra careful since these fire faster because of the springs). Every X-Men will enjoy building the Blackbird. Then there's the Sentinel, the infamous robot created by Boliver Trask witht he sole purpose to hunt down mutants. This guy comes with two flick fire missiles, an area on on the palms on its hands to attack a red spring missile piece which can be used as a laser beam.Every X-Men fan, Every Marvel fan, Every Superhero fan should get this set. Unlike most of Lego's Marvel line, where the sets from based mostly on the cartoons and movies, this one is based on something the actual comics. Lego should make more X-Men sets and they should also make more sets based on the comics rather than the movies and cartoons.
