"The Daily Ukulele" is the one indispensable book for anyone beginning or continuing to play ukulele. Not only does contain a lot of songs for the money, but unlike on other fake- or real- books you may try, there's no fluff here. Almost all the songs are timeless classics that either you already knew or will be delighted to know for the first time. Just look them up on YouTube and be impressed. The Beloffs have translated them painstakingly to the ukulele, changing the key when necessary and simplifying chords to make them easy to play. You will be hard pressed to find better chord sets out there. Do an Internet search and compare with what you find. They also mix the keys so they are not all in C, which is the easiest key for the ukulele, but also many in G (next easiest, and most popular in general because it's the easiest key for the guitar), in F (challenging because of the abundance of Bb chords), and other keys so you can learn those chords as well almost without noticing. The few pages before the songs are quite amazing too. There you'll find a comprehensive chord chart with actual fingerings, which kind of unusual, and quite useful if you are beginning. There's a short chapter on the difficult chords and to make them easier, including their famous pitch to try using your pinky as soon as possible to make the G chord and some others (they should add Em and B7 as well). I haven't found any other material out there, whether printed or online, that gives you such a useful advice. And then, there are several books, not just one. These are: 1. The original "Daily Ukulele," for soprano to tenor tuning. This is the book to get if you only want one. 2. The Leap Year edition, containing 366 more songs. Most are not so well known, but there are a wealth of famous titles that somehow couldn't fit in the second book. 3. The Baritone edition. This one you can skip if you already have the original edition since the only difference is the few intro pages and the chord diagrams at the head of each song. The key of each song is the same as in the original book, which seems like a wasted opportunity to come up with a few more exceptional chord sets, nuanced for the special characteristics of the baritone uke. Joining the first two titles together there are still a few well-known songs that maybe the authors should think of for the third volume of the series. I am a new ukulele player. I received a ukulele from my son for Mother's Day. Here it is just 2 months later, and I am really enjoying it. I had no experience with this instrument prior to receiving this gift. I am able to play a number of songs from this book. Yes, there are songs for intermediate players also, so those will be my challenge to learn. This book will last me a long time, if I try to play and learn every song in it. Which I intend to do. There is a big variety of music types that make it suitable for a Ukulele Club too. If you play the guitar, this book is for you also. My son plays both the guitar and ukulele and uses this book for both instruments. This book will allow me to play a variety of songs, so when I play for other people it will be a lot of fun. I really love the spiral binding and the book lays flat. The songs are all on the same page, so there is no turning of pages when you are playing a song. I love the chord boxes at the top of each song which clearly shows how to play the chord on the ukulele. If I am unfamiliar with a particular song, I go to YouTube and look it up. Someone is either singing or playing that song. Then I go back to the book and I can usually play the song. But what was even more valuable for me was the Introduction pages. There is one page in particular which shows 3 ways to play a Bb chord, which is usually very difficult for beginners, including me. This opened up my world and makes it possible for me to play more songs than I thought possible. Also, there is a tip on playing the G chord and being able to change to other chords effortlessly that are not in other books. There are more tips, but these two tips have helped me accelerate my playing to a new level. I also purchased the Leap Year book and I am looking forward to getting it. If the author writes another book, I will buy it too. I recommend using these two books, which will give you over 700 songs. Its cheaper than printing these songs off the internet (if you can find them).

I recently bought a ukulele (2 weeks ago) and started playing these songs with the cords. It was easy to follow and there are really a lot of songs that I enjoy playing. It was a great investment that will give me hours of enjoyment,

I own about a dozen fake books and this one is among the best designed: opens easily and stays open and clear typesetting. I already have most of the material in other books but there is a wide variety of folk songs, hymns and pop oldies from the past century. I'm not sure how many folks really want to play Michael Row the Boat Ashore and Oh, Susanna but they're in there. Oddly, Aloha Oe includes only the famous chorus and the opening verse melody is MIA (Moana fans will be disappointed!). Nevertheless this is just a standard fake book suitable for any instrument that reads treble clef, so if you play piano or guitar it's just as useful it is for the ukulele. The only thing that makes it an ukulele fake book is the title and a chart of basic ukulele chords. The notes and chords are written in standard lead sheet form so ukulele players need to know how to read staff notation (no tabs) and chord symbols. Be aware many of the songs require low G tuning for the melody (my preference but many prefer reentrant tuning). I wasn't pleased with packaging as it was tossed in a big box without protection and was a bit dogeared upon arrival. Normally it should have a plastic bag to keep it from opening and rubbing on the other items in the box. All in all a nice fake book but but not especially slanted toward the ukulele.

I am almost 70 years young (not ready for the carpet slippers just yet) and I have always loved banjo and ukulele music. Being a lover of George Formby, who I saw live at Blackpool in 1956 when I was just twelve years old. George played the Ukulele in two versions, (the guitar shaped and the banjo style) but was more famous for his Banjo Ukulele. The Banjo Ukulele is the one I have, which is a Ozark, mid priced model, which has an antique style Remo head, 12 brass brackets and flange, with the resonator and neck in antique mahogany left in a matt finish. I just love it. Anyway, I am not here to discuss about the instrument, but to review this wonderful song book, made for the Ukulele player. I can honestly say that I am familiar with most of the songs in this book and everyone of them are not too difficult for the beginner. I have been playing for about two months now and I am still a bit finger twisted in getting all the chords in tune with the right fingers, but it's just a matter of practising as much as you can, without upsetting the neighbours (lol). The songs are so easy to follow with the chord diagrams and although it takes a bit of time to get into the rhythm, after a few times going over the same song, it starts to sound much better. Some are very easy, some reasonably easy, some a bit more difficult and some are just about manageable with a lot of practice, but you can't expect to play like George Formby in two months. This is about the best compilation of songs and music you are likely to find for the ukulele or the four string banjo/ukulele which does sound slightly different than the guitar style ukulele, but the strings are just the same for both. So don't be put off if you only have a banjo ukulele, you can still play from this book. A word of warning, don't buy the Kindle version, you need the hard copy, as others have found out. This is important if you want to play from it and make sure you have a music stand, as it is quite a large book and heavy too (well it has got 365 songs) so a bit thicker than an ordinary sheet of music. You won't be disappointed if you want to be able to rattle of a good view tunes, as variety is what you will get from this bundle of joy. Best music book I have bought since I bought Ukulele for Dummies, which again is the best book for any beginner, as are all the Dummies series of books.

There are songs from all eras, and variety of chord complexities. I was surprised at how many songs I knew and could play right away. Beginners can start with the 3-4 chords songs, but soon you will want to be playing more complicated pieces. After a year and a half, I still find this to be a great book, and as I continue to improve, the songs get easier!
