It's been three months now; I can see that it's working.
It's been just over three months since I began using this product, so I've given it the time I needed to make a fair and accurate assessment. I am seeing new hair growth. Most of my hair is slightly below my shoulders and the new growth is still very short, but I see much less scalp when I part my hair, and that alone makes it worth the effort and expense of using it twice a day. I had trouble getting into the habit of using it at first, so I found it helpful to keep a calendar handy in the bathroom just for jotting down the time of each application. That way, I know I'm using it twice a day! I confess, the first two months, I often used it only once a day and occasionally forgot about it entirely! I now keep the pen in plain sight on my bathroom counter and it serves as a reminder to use the little bottle in my medicine cabinet. One thing that I didn't expect was that (although I stopped coloring my hair a few years ago and most of it has turned white) some of the new growth, even at my hairline, is growing in black, the original color! I like it, as my skin is very light and it gives me greater definition at the hairline. When I began using the third bottle, I re-ordered, so I'd always have a supply on hand. Remember, once you start using it, you have to make the commitment to keep on with it, or lose the new growth you've gained. Also, the package cautions that if a person's hair loss has progressed past a certain point, the product may not be effective. I decided it was worth a giving it a chance and I'm glad I did. Just remember, twice a day, every day, and give it three months as a fair trial.

OY! I LOVE THIS STUFF.
This worked great for my hair. I started losing a lot of hair when I entered my 50s. I'm not 52. The hair came out in masses, and it was not longer the huge, healthy hair that I had. (By huge, I don't mean 80s HUGE.) I bought this because it wa chapter than other similar products. The first week, I used about 5 times. I was going to use every day, but new habits are difficult to acquire. The next week, again, I used about 5 times. The 3rd and 4th weeks, I used 3 times/week. I noticed a difference in less than for weeks. Now, eh, I might forget to use it. I use it maybe once or twice per week, AND my hair is full, just like in my 20s. This may not work for everyone, We all have different hair, skin. If your hair started thinning in your 20s or 30s, this may not be from age-related hair loss. See your doctor. I do love this product! However, castor oil is also recommended as a hair growth product. I've done some research on it. It *may* help with other than age-related thinning hair. *Do research.* I'm going to try it on my husband. It's all natural, with no chemicals, no additives.

Good product
This is comparable to Rogaine for Women; 2% minoxidil is 2% minoxidil regardless of the brand. I've used both Rogaine for Women and Equate and see no difference at all. I've seen moderate hair regrowth and have no issue with that because I didn't expect for my hair to be as thick as it once was. The texture of my hair has improved, too, so that I no longer use mousse when I style it. I have two negative issues with this product. First, the three bottles of Rogaine or Equate do not last three months as advertised. I've read this complaint from other users and thought they were probably using too much product, so I made a point of carefully filling the included eyedropper to slightly below the line marked on the eyedropper. I wipe my finger on the outside of the dropper and apply that to my eyebrows (which have also become slightly thicker) then part my hair from forehead to crown, one row at the time, about 1/4 inch apart, and dab the tip of the eyedropper along the part lines (using much the same technique as when I dab stencil paint on a project). I part my hair with the pointed end of a rattail comb and use the back of the comb on the other end to massage the liquid into my scalp. I know some people wear gloves when applying the liquid, but I don't because I wash my hands thoroughly after applying it. Besides, hair won't grow where there have been no follicles, i.e. hair might grow on the back of the fingers between the knuckles but not on the finger tips because there never was any hair on the finger tips. And hair won't grow on the back of the fingers if your hands are washed after application. The second issue is the liquid base of the product. Because it is liquid that flows as freely as water, it can be difficult to apply because it can run down your forehead or to other parts of the scalp where it isn't wanted. Why can't they put it in a gel or cream? If the instructions describe how much to use, for example "squeeze out an amount the size of a pea", you won't use more than you should. The liquid is easier to spill than gel or cream would be. I have to use it when the cats are not in the room because they jump up on the vanity in the bathroom when I apply it, and I'm afraid they would knock over the bottle. If pharmaceutical companies can put this in liquid form, I don't see why they can't find a medium that is easier to apply.

It reallly works
I have been using Keranique products for over a year. When I started, you could see my scalp through my hair no matter how I styled it. The Keranique shampoo and other products actually made my hair look thicker right away. However, they are expensive. About a month ago, when I was getting low on the minoxidil, I decided to see if I could find it cheaper online. I found this offer for the Equate -- and it was a 3-month supply for the same price as the Keranique for 1 month. I can see no difference in results with the Equate vs. the Keranique. Just be aware, you have to keep using the minoxidil or you will start to lose your hair again. Also, it doesn't work on everyone. The literature that comes with it says it works best for people that baldness runs in their family. I am one of the lucky ones -- I can style my hair any way I want now and my scalp does not show through!!
