Humor and Magic!
Got this book hoping for ways to spruce up my home and a few spell ideas, and got both with the added side effect of humor and hijinks. There were some really interesting anecdotes and stories in here, great quotes, and the journal at the end is pretty awesome. There's some good ideas for putting together a house that feels more magical in the end. Since I just moved from a tiny apartment to a whole big place, I was really excited to start giving this a try.

Gives enough
I bought this book when I bought my first house. I was looking for something that could help bring a more magical feel to my home and help me protect it and bring to it all the things magic would. At first it seemed to do just that. I noticed in the beginning, in the "about author" part it says she's a garden expert. Halfway through the book she pretty much converts to gardening and plant stuff. I understand the garden and yards are part of the home but it seems to me she's stuck in only that world and I saw she already had a garden witch book so why really add that into this one? I got everything I wanted out of the book though and loved it. I just wish she could have done without all the little stories about her family. The fung shui kinda disappointed me, I don't really view that as the type of magic I like to follow and it was really out of place. Over all though the book is good for beginners of magic and informative on quite a bit.

Interesting and helpful book
This book was given to me as a gift when I bought my last house and it’s come quite in handy. I even bought a copy for a friend of mine-it makes a unique housewarming gift! It’s full of really nice information on how to connect with nature to bring positivity into your home. Theres’s little charms to say, decorating ideas, etc. My only complaint is I find it a bit hard to follow and wind up flipping back and forth a lot, but I use this book mostly as reference to what I need, so I don’t find this a problem. I don’t put it away so that I can access it when something arises. I would recommend this book.

A Good Starting Place
Cottage Witchery is a great starting point for anyone interested in the craft. On the upside, Dugan's writing is easy to understand, is loaded with personal examples and wonderful ideas, and you can tell that she truly cares about her work, both magical and mundane. The book even has note pages for you to fill in as you work through the book.On the downside, it lacks depth. I knew this going in, so I'm not upset about that, however, I didn't realize exactly how much it lacked. Like I said, many great ideas are presented in Cottage Witchery, however, each topic covers about one to three pages. I genuinely wish the topics were covered in more depth, as they are wonderful ideas as how to magic-ify your home.All-in-all, if you are a beginner to the craft, and don't necessarily mind the lack of depth, I'd recommend Cottage Witchery for you.

Simple and very useful
This reminds me of the kind of witchcraft that my grandmother might have practiced. Or the kind more commonly done in the south of my childhood. This is a very casual and very effective type of witchcraft and I was actually very impressed with it. Even those of us who have been practicing a more formal brand of magick for years can learn from this, unless, of course, you look down on "kitchen witchery."I very much enjoyed this book. I read the library copy and have put it on my wish list since I found a lot of little herbal and simple magickal secrets that I had forgotten from my very much younger days.I also am recommending this book for several of my friends who are just now considering witchcraft. The author has a sense of humor, and puts a lot of herself into the book. It's a pleasant read, even if you don't use any of the spells. I'd call it a must read to anyone just starting out, and I'd recommend it to those who practice any form of nature based magick.

Make Your House a Magickal Home!
I am an advanced practitioner and even I enjoyed this book. It proves that no matter how advanced you are, there is really no need to over complicate matters. This book is full of little nuances, tid bits of info, and the authors personal experiences that the advanced witch can learn from, and a new witch will find invaluable. For the beginner and intermediate witch this is a must have manual for the magickal home. For the advanced witch this is a guidebook worth having as a reference in ones library. When things feel off, cluttered, stagnant, out of whack, or your moving into a new home or even rearranging furniture.......this book is worth consulting. You may think you know everything........and you may well know a lot... but you'd be surprised what you can be reminded of!

good for beginners
this book is good for beginners in wicca or witchcraft, but since it is wicca based, it's very generalized for multiple pantheons. however it has many helpful lists and spells, so it's a keeper!

Not complicated
This is a lovely book written by a knowlegeable witch who has strived to simplify the spells for anyone starting out in the craft. I find her style of writing very comforting as it feels as if she is speaking directly to me. I would recommend this book
