Great Italian tuna!
I recently visited the Calipo tuna factory in Calabria in southern Italy last fall. I have relatives in Italy that dragged me to this factory while I was on vacation there for tuna 2 days in a row because of how great it is. I’m thinking…how great can tuna be? I typically cannot eat tuna straight from the can, but this tuna is so fresh and flavored with a bit of salt and olive oil I eat it plain from the can with nothing added. I purchased some while I was at the factory and once I came back to the states I was excited to see I could purchase the same tuna on amazon. After reading up a bit on tuna, I realized that most of the tuna that we purchase here is not from the states and most brands typically farm their tuna from Asia. Even some Italian brands I was used to purchasing in the past are no longer actually selling Italian tuna. This brand is expensive, but if it continues with the high quality tuna from Italy it is worth the price for a better product. My only issue is that the past couple times I have received a damaged product with my shipment. One time a couple cans were missing, can was dented, and packaging was ripped.

A good fish, but...
Not as good as As do Mar, which I use regularly. This is a pretty good substitute if you can't find As do Mar, which isnt easy to find, either online or locally, & so can be quite expensive.

A very special treat.
This yellow fin tuna has a taste that is not found in what we usually find in supermarket tuna. It is often called Italian tuna. It breaks from the ordinary when used in salads and sandwiches. The small tins are pricy, but to be enjoyed as something special.
