I just received this hat and have not yet worn it for my daily morning walk but I really like it. According to what I’ve heard we’ll have to wear face coverings even when walking alone, so needed to find something that wouldn’t be too restrictive when walking. A regular face mask is just not comfortable for long periods of time, or in the heat. This hat is light weight and every part is detachable (back drape, front face covering, even the chin strap). The piece that goes over the face is light-weight fabric/netting that hangs down so would allow me to drink water without removing. It will satisfy the requirement for face covering in a light weight way. UPDATE: I have now been wearing this on my daily walks for three weeks. The weather here in coastal Southern California is getting warmer and sunnier each week and this hat is comfortable, cool and allows for quick face covering or release of face drape. I have been stopped numerous times by other walkers asking where I got this hat. I have removed face covering at the end of each week and wash by hand. Still recommend this hat. My husband liked it so well, we got the man’s version of this for him.

Great for over all face protection

As a visor it's great but the hat part can not accommodate a lot of hair so if you have thick or long hair you won't be able to use it as a hat.

But other than that, this thing is the best. Tough, doesn't warp like my other visors. And it's WIDE. Like, it doesn't matter which direction the sun is coming from. This thing keeps my face in the shade no matter what. Given that I'm currently slathering medicines on my cheeks, that's important. It's comfy. It serves it's purpose well. I don't regret paying what I did for it. Oh, and it's definitely gray (I ordered the gray). Okay at this point I'm just knocking off the little "Ideas" topics suggested by the Amazon page. When did they implement this thing...

I usually am not bothered by my farmer's tan but realized some medication I am on made me hyper sensitive to the sun and developed a bad sun rash and sunburn. That was not fun. So the tradeoff is that now I need to be covered. This hat is a good option but I found the front flap to be pretty much useless. I read another reviewer mention moving the Velcro and I think I could also find a way to sew it onto the back flap but I found there is sufficient coverage from the brim and I didn’t need the front flap at all. Fun color options and it helps me avoid unwanted sun exposure.

Living in a harsh desert climate with lupus is no joke - sun protection can mean a difference between health or a life-threatening disease flare. This hat is GREAT! It provides amazing UV protection, and the mask is comfortable and functional. The top cap is zippered, and turn into a visor. I have a big head and a lot of hair, and it adjusts perfectly. The neck scarf is comfortable and wraps around to snap on the face mask to provide all around sun-blocking. This has helped me to enjoy the outdoors, and I’d recommend this to anyone with a sun sensitivity.

I like the weight of the fabric. I like how far the visor protrudes and it provides great sun coverage front and sides. I like the hat and back flap portion; the length it falls. I do not like and cannot use the face shield at all. When attached to the visor it is too short from left to right and as a result it covers my eyes. I cannot see when wearing it. I purchased this item for the visor and face shield, not for the hat and flap portion. As a result of the design, I only achieved 50% of my objective. I have an average size head circumference and an average size face. Suggest: making the face shield with more velcro on the visor to allow for more drooping if needed. For reason stated above I would not recommend it if having a light weight face shield is part of your objective.

I have photosensitivity so I blister in the sun...this hat has allowed me freedom! Great neck and face coverage with breathing space! As a glasses wearer the facial cover is a little tricky and tight but I found it workable. Love that it has a hole so my hair isn't stuck to my neck in the heat! Would buy one in every color!
