The first time I used this I was a little disappointed as the vacuum was not enough to pull up the debris at the bottom of the aquarium even with the hose wide open. I ended up throwing the drain hose restrictor away as it reduced the suction, however it worked very good at water changes and the extra length helps to keep your hands out of the water. The tube could be stronger and easier to put back on after clean ups.I have used this for about a month now and the vacuum tube has become more difficult to put back on after cleaning. I am going to have to glue it on as now it lets air into the pump which obviously interferes with the suction. The concept is great, but the actual functionality is poor.It does not have enough good points to recommend buying this.Well, have had this item for a few months and now part of the black body is cracked allowing air into the auction reducing the power even more. I will have to seal it, another repair. I highly recommend not to waste your time and money on this.

Once I got it going, it did an excellent job sucking water quickly out from tank. I found that I got it going more from shaking the tube/long nozzle back and forth (like a traditional cleaning kit) more than through the use of the pump. However, I like that I didn't suck up any gravel or fish while getting the first few gallons out of my 5 gallon vertical Glofish tank. There are little tools to help help attach the drain tube to a bucket, and one to help pinch the tube as a means to control flow.It definitely got out all the water; not sure how much debris, but I was really aiming for getting water out without having to dip a cup into the tank to do so.I'm giving it a generous 4 stars because it was easier to use and less cumbersome than other gravity vacuums, and it definitely took out all the water quickly. I've only used it once, and only do FULL water changes on my 5 gallon just once a month (only more if things get cloudy) and partial water changes 1x a week- but I don't plan to use the vacuum for a partial on a small tank. Anyway, long way of saying that I will report back on this product if I learn anything new or experience anything different as I use it more (it is just going to be a while).

This is perfect for spot cleaning my tank and filtering debris out of the gravel. Because of its narrow diameter tubing I can take my time and direct my cleaning efforts to the areas of my aquarium that need it without worrying about my draining the tank within minuets. Easier to get into the nooks and crannies. Comes with tubing clip that keeps the drain tube in place on the bucket. Best siphon pump I've ever used.

OK I had high hopes for this item in less then 30 seconds I knew this item sucked once I opened the box I saw how cheap quality the pieces areYou have no suction to pull the water up it is not air tight I had to suck on the end of the hose to just get it up the front tube.. Then when you use the pump side it does not work for nothing it is not air tight meaning no matter how much you pump you will see it going back down... MY REVIEW WAS BASED OFF LESS THEN 4 INCHES OF WATER IN A 10 GALLON TANK I HAVE BABY SNAPPING TURTLES...

Worked very well if you need aggressive suction to clear a big tank. Have to prime. I had a big tank for koi trying to keep alive for winter (failed) I'm not sure how great in small tank

This did not come with assembly instructions. After getting it together it would not stay together and kept coming apart during my attempt at cleaning the tank, spraying water everywhere.

Not very useful, doesn't seal, air leaks in at handle. Small pumper also doesn't seal. Good thought, doesn't really do a good job. Old school is quicker and easier.

This makes cleaning a dirty tank fun!! I wish I never hesitated !!
