Maddie Visits the Pharmacist

I wanted to use this book for my daughters class and it’s too wordy and some of the words are above their heads. The best one I’ve found so far is Pharmacy and Me by Butler students but it’s not available on Amazon…the only place I’ve found it is their student bookstore.

As a physician and mother, this book is excellent and I read it to my children. I never knew a book like this existed until we stumbled upon it. When I found the book I was just so impressed! It is a fantastic book to explain to your kids about taking medications and about pharmacists and what they do. Whenever my child gets sick and he starts complaining about taking medication, he actually goes and gets the book, "Maddie Visits the Pharmacists" and wants me to read it to him. It's like it help motivates him to take the medication he needs to take!! Highly recommend for parents to read and then read to their children!

I highly recommend this book!  It is a wonderful story for any child who is sick and needs to take medicine (either over-the-counter or from a pharmacist).  The perfect gift for a new parent or to put in a care package for a sick child. Two thumbs up!

My 5, 7, and 9 year olds all love this book! The illustrations are so cute and the story is written very well to keep young kids engaged and excited. My 5 year old packs this book in her suitcase every time we take a trip!

What a wonderful book! As a psychologist and new parent, I'm always on the lookout for fun and educational children's books. This book really has it all! It tells a wonderful story that all children (and even parents!) can relate to. And the illustrations are so beautiful and vibrant-even keeping the attention of my 2 month old baby! I highly recommend this book, especially for those challenging moments where you may be dealing with a child going through a tough time battling some type of illness, even a little cold. This book is sure to put a big smile on your little one's face!

This was a gift for a child whose parents are pharmacists. She loved it!

I am a pharmacist and my daughter loves hearing this story. She points to the pharmacist in the book and says "That's you, Mommy!" It's a cute story with nice illustrations that any child (especially one with a pharmacist in the family) would enjoy.

This book is cute and really helps explain what a pharmacist does. However it better portrays a compounding pharmacy as not all pharmacies offer a choice in flavours to patients. I didn't want to create unrealistic expectations in the kids I planned to give it to. It is also quite long-targeted at older kids.
