Works just like it's supposed to
This was the preferred method of repair other that replacing the entire tub spout. Very inexpensive repair and easy to install. Top quality and no leakage and it looks like it was never a repair, looks OEM.

Gave an old spout new life!
My old diverter was terrible—more than half of the water still came out of the spout, and the shower head had such weak pressure. I thought I needed a whole new spout, which I didn’t want to mess with due to the age of the existing one and the risk of damaging the plumbing behind the wall (probably 30+ years old). I decided to try this product, thinking at best it might make a slight improvement. To my absolute surprise, the diverter now works like new! Not a drop comes out of the spout when you pull it, and the shower head has full pressure!

Fix that leaky shower diverter. It’s easy.
After 20 years the shower diverter in guest bathroom was leaking badly & lost a lot of flow to shower head. This kit fixed it like new. Not a bad idea to just replace the spout & diverter. Old spout has to come off anyway. You’ll need plumbers tape (Teflon tape), a large rag to protect spout during removal, and a wide jaw pipe wrench, pliers or vice grips that open large enough to grab old spout.User tip: easy job if you a little handy & have right tools on hand. You will need to remove old spout. Not hard, but won’t come off by hand. Wrap a large rag or towel around it so you won’t damage the finish on spout. Using a large pipe wrench or large pliers or vice grips turn the spout counter clockwise. (Lefty loosey) it should come off easily. Follow instructions to take out old diverter parts and install new ones. IMPORTANT: Clean off old plumbers tape on water outlet and put on several layers of new Teflon tape. Screw it back in place clockwise until tight and pointing straight down. Your done.

Worked great. Use a file to clean surface.
Works great to fix our problems of shower faucet. Just be sure to use a file to clean up the surface that the washer ultimately presses down on. Easy to assemble. Just needed some needle nose pliers to remove the old piece.

Good product just doesn’t fit my Kohler
Great service and quick delivery. Nice product. Unfortunately does not fit my Kohler. The “tines” are shorter per the pictures. The thickness of the wastegate is also a problem but grinding it down will just move the tines further away. Kohler doesn’t sell it and none of the big box stores in my area carry it. I put the rubber insert in my old wastegate and it fixed about 90% of the problem (wastegate has some wear too.)

Good kit, but the prongs are indeed too short
This kit has everything you need to repair your tub spout diverter. However, when replacing mine, I found that the prongs that hold the diverter knob shaft are, as several past reviewers have also said, too short. A great deal of leverage is required to spread the prongs apart enough, and the prongs were getting increasingly mangled as I tried to spread them apart with a flat screwdriver. Eventually, I gave up and used my existing diverter gate (which has nice lengthy prongs) with the new washer from the kit inserted. Fortunately, this worked fine. Thus, I only really needed a new diverter washer, and the other two parts of the kit (gate and knob) were not used.

typical Chinese junk
The sidewalls on the plastic slide are too thick to slide into the grooves in the tub spout. The prongs on the slide are too short. I could only use the new rubber grommet and the metal stem that came with the "kit". Before going on, I should mention that I spent 2 1/2 hours soaking the mineral buildup on the inside of the spout. I used CLR and vinegar to soften it. I used a plastic spoon that restaurants put in your take out bag to scrape the softened calcium from the surfaces of the metal spout. It is important to clean the sealing area thoroughly without scratching the metal. The old plastic slide was cleaned the same way. Putting it all back together, I noticed the new rubber grommet came nowhere close to touching the sealing surface of the spout. I had to add a buna-n o-ring behind the grommet to get it to touch the metal seal area. Finally finished, I tested with the shower spray on, and was not impressed. The diverter still leaks some water from the tub spout while running the shower, although it is not nearly as bad as before my efforts. Bottom line; Don't waste your time and money on a "universal" Chinese made rebuild kit. In fact, ANY rebuild kit. Buy a new diverter spout from a reputable manufacturer such as Kohler, Delta, Moen, or if you prefer, have a pro plumber do the job for you. I do not recommend Danco anything.
