This is one of my all time favorite middle school chapters books
You guys. This is one of my all time favorite middle school chapters books. Well, now, anyways since it wasn't around when I was a kid. I lead a book club for fifth graders. The teacher requires the books to be a specific lexile (in our case 800-1200), the girls wanted a humorous book, and I really wanted a strong female lead. I love the classics like Old Yeller and The Hatchet, but I really wanted to highlight a strong, goal oriented, capable female. After some googling, I came up with "The Tapper Twins Go to War (with each other)" by Geoff Rodkey. This book is pure genius. It exposes the kids to a genre that many fifth graders aren't exposed to: Oral History. Oral History - and the kids loved it! Also, it met the other requirements I was looking for, huge bonus. The story highlights the excitement of a prank war between two twin siblings. In between the bouts of goofiness were the more serious aspects of a war history, such as the guilt brought on by doing such awful acts to each other and hearing the cries of those affected negatively by the actions. However, the book was gentle enough that I felt comfortable having them read those parts alone at home and then facilitating a real discussion while in group about the correlation to real war. They grasped the meaning but kept their sweet innocence in tact. What I disliked: Nothing. I HIGHLY recommend this book for middle school students. What I liked: Everything! I loved the humor, I loved how the female lead was preparing herself to run for president some day, I loved the genuine niceness of the male lead, I loved the oral history aspect of this book, I loved how modern it is, and I loved that five out of the six girls I had in the group literally begged for the next Tapper Twins book in the series to be our next in Book Club. Serious win.

Remarkably funny and well-done. Highly recommend.
This is a remarkably funny and well-done book. Hovering between graphic novel and novel, this book is an excellent example of this new genre of junior fiction, aimed at the reluctant reader (lots of font changes to denote texting, or dialogue, or emails; lots of pictures and cartoon drawings illustrating hysterical details, which expand the narrative). I laughed out loud when I read this to my identical twins, and was delighted to see the one who is more of a reluctant reader grab the book, read ahead, and re-read the book several times. Even my older, Reader son enjoyed this one. We are eagerly awaiting the sequel, to be released this Fall.

PLEASE read the whole review, and please PRESS the helpful button thanks 😊This is a very good book. The tapper twins are hilarious 😆. This is an amazing book for middle school kids. I’m in 5th grade right now, and I ❤️ this book. The whole book is about two twins (Claudia and Reese) who are pulling pranks on each other. It has some words that are abbreviated (examples. v = very, ur = your, u = you, srsly = seriously.) Overall it’s a AMAZING 🤩 book, and I LOVE the Tapper Twins series.-Pippa 🤠

Mostly Good
This book was pretty good, but it wasn't written that well. The margin notes appeared oddly as an ebook and was confusing to read. There was also a problem of a story line. The book ended odly and they made up in like 2 pages and didn't make sense, as there was no reson really for why they made up. It was good though because the book was interesting to read and ended up having a lot of funny jokes. It was good and all, especially because it was cheap. I wouldn't buy it if it was $9.99 instead of $5.99.

Discover the Tapper Twins! Especially before a New York City visit!
We have both the audiobooks and hard cover book. We personally love these series and feel that the story and issues are very entertaining and relevant. These series appeal to both boys as well as girls because the twins are fraternal twins and each Tapper Twin are different in personality and temperament. If you want a new chapter book series to discover, my 10 year old son will highly recommend these books! It’s been his favorite series that he’s reread and listen to over and over.

Very funny book
"The Tapper Twins go to War (With Each Other)" is an account of a "war" the 12-year-old Tapper Twins, Claudia and Reese, had. The account was initiated by Claudia "so that historians of the future would know exactly what happened and whose fault it was (Reese's)."The account is arranged as an oral history (i.e. interviews) with all the main players getting to have their say, with photos, illustrations, online chat logs and telephone text conversations being interspersed along the way. The layout being arranged into smaller chunks of text like this should appeal to younger readers. The war itself is over little things, but also there is a conscience to it all with both parties expressing regret at what they do in their attempts at revenge. "I am NEVER going to war with anybody again."The book is very funny with different viewpoints being expressed over the same events, and little digs that the twins have at each others' expense. All-in-all a book well worth reading.
