This is the first type of hair Clay iv'e used, and it not only does the job, it's absolutely great both for hold duration, workability, and in my experience most of all texture and color after application. I for one was not a fan of mat finish to begin with, I usually preferred wet finishes before. But this product gave my brown hair a whole lot of glory, it makes the hair look very natural but at the same time gives it a very special sobre kind of natural shine which looks absolutely great. In my experience the product is very easy to apply which is surprising for a clay, will perhaps not look as great immediately after application, it's one of these product that looks 20 folds better after it has dried in your hair so don't be shocked if you're not 100% happy right after application (don't rinse it out)...I would recommend using on damp hair and letting the product dry up along with your hair....BTW I haven't made a point about the smell of the product which smells GREAT...It smells bit like a modern fancy product that they would put in hair in a big hair salon after a haircut! Not hard to wash- Pretty rewardable if you wet your hair a little- The quantity inside is worth the 25 dollars- Probably the best pomade iv'e ever used for my hair...I'm very satisfied

For years and years I looked at buying this product as it's constantly one of the top reviewed hair products for men on Amazon and on other beauty and men's grooming sites. I just never wanted to spend the extra money when what I used (American Crew Fiber) always worked so well for me. But, at long last, I finally caved and purchased this and I will say... It was worth it. Pros: Smells great (in my opinion) - the smell is faint but you can smell it. Has a very high hold and very low shine (a stronger hold than AC Fiber). Hold lasts all day; hands can be ran through your hair several times and the product will stay and maintain your hair's style. Works great on short to medium-short hair, and works good on longer hair (bangs about 4-5" long). Best way to use is apply a half dime amount to damp hair, thoroughly work into the hair, and then blow dry to style. Then use a little more after drying for additional detailing and hold. Even when applied to wet hair and allowed to dry freely (say you just get out the shower with a wet head and put this in your hair and then leave the house), the shine is still fairly low (which I really prefer) and isn't nearly as intense as other hair products - though your hair will be crunchy. Also, the 2.2oz goes a long way due to the product's consistency and strength. Very easy to wash out and leaves no residue behind. Cons: Feels gritty between your hands and is fairly difficult to work into slightly damp or dry hair. Works good, but not great, on longer hair. I have very thick, straight hair and I used this to achieve a natural, slicked back look without the "slick" part, as in very minimal shine. The hold was good but about halfway through the day I would have to start adjusting my hair a lot or add more product (but I also run my hands through my hair a lot while at work stressing myself out over meaningless details...). If you have thinner hair and it's longer (5-7" bangs) this will probably hold up really well still.

Good product. Not too heavy. It’s like cream will give a nice light shine but may need to use it with another product of you want to hold your hair in place.

I have been using By Vilain for about 10 years now. I started with the gold digger and switched to the dynamite when it was released. This has amazing hold that will last all day and can carry over for the next day as well. I really like that it's a matte look and gives the hair a more natural feel.

I have medium thick and wavy hair and this product holds my hair very well. The dynamite is also very flexible as I could move my hair around through out the day. I like to use it on wet hair and then blow dry with an additional touch up on dry hair. Every hair type is different and you will have to try different products until you find the one that will work. This one works well on my hair and I will continue to use it for the long run. I'm glad I've found this brand!

i really don't want to have to write a book here, but lets just say that this stuff is no good. no hold, no texture, and even though it's a clay.....this stuff got hard in my hair like i was using a gel. never seen anything like it with a clay. also, the fact that it's SUPPOSED to be a premium product and is expensive....it's just a slap in the face. never going to buy any "by vilain" product again.

Absolutely great product. Matte finish. Strong hold. As claimed by them. Gives your hear great texture and clumping, and you hair are re-workable even till the next day. My hair is thick, so it works great!
