Outstanding book for watercolor technique, use of color, plus demos for a botanical rendering or impressionist approach Recommended to my art class by instructor.

Bought used, description said slight edge wear, but the book appears like new, wear is not apparent. Info is clear, illustrations are good. My copy is first edition, not the second pictured. (Which I knew before purchasing. It had a higher recommendation than second edition re illustrations.)

Very nice book, but the paper quality was disappointing. It impacted the illustrations, an important part of this book. I had seen an earlier version, which seemed to be better quality, so was disaapointed when this one arrived.

Anyone who buys this book will not be disappointed. She covers everything in great detail. It is like being in a classroom with a teacher. A must have book if you are into watercolor flowers. A must have if you are into any kind of watercolor. A most helpful book.

The author/artist explains her technique for eating flowers with watercolor. She has an excellent command of color theory. Good reference.

When the book arrived I looked through it and suddenly felt my palms begin to itch. I smelled the pages and cover and everything smelled like it had mildew. I washed the slick cover with dish soap and water and the smell went away but still made my hands react to touching it. I opened up the book to air every page and it still smells of mildew and when I turn pages I have to use a paper towel or wash my hands if I haven't protected my hands.The book is very instructive and I enjoy the different painting techniques used for the flowers especially how to paint pansies.I think before another book is sent out of your warehouse each one should be inspected for mildew on the pages even if the mildew is not visible because it can be detected by smell.

I purchased this as a gift to myself! It is a gift to gaze, ponder, and be inspired by the beauty of Collins' artistry! It is also a gift to have something I am able to use as a lover of watercolor painting.

I found Painting Flowers with Impact to be a stunning presentation of beautiful paintings shown against pristine white pages. This made for a very attractive book but is quite unhelpful if you are struggling with the problem of which background to choose.It was truly inspirational with enough demonstrations to be helpful I liked her advice on materials colours and composition also good advice on painting white flowers, which I needed. I also found the section on painting leaves very helpful.I have looked for other books by this author, hoping she is intending a further book covering more about how to paint backgrounds of flowers with impact. She included much information about painting on vellum, which seems to warrant a book all of its own: the space this discussion takes up may have been better used explaining how to paint flowers with impact against a background.It must have taken a long time to paint all the subjects for this lovely book and I look forward to happily trying out her methods. and look forward to any other painting book she produces. I heartily recommend this book.

I was recommended to get this book. Great book for watercolour painting, I learned a lot from this book. I recommend this to anyone to learn to paint watercolour.
