Excellent - here's some advice for a professional finish
On the back of the packet there are instructions and circles indicating what size fabric to cut for each button size. I found something circular of the right size (eg. a cotton reel), placed it on the fabric and drew around it with a sharp pencil, ensuring the design I wanted on the button was centred. The more precisely you draw and cut out this circle, the easier it is to work with and the better the result. You have to tack with very small stitches just inside the edge of the circle to gather the material up over the button. Don't tack too close to the edge if your material frays easily. Use strong but fine thread because you have to pull it tightly and secure it (I knotted the ends together). Again, the more accurately and evenly you sew this gathering thread around the edge, the better the result. Don't attach the washer until you are happy with the cover as it is quite difficult to remove. All parts are plastic and the instructions say they can be dry-cleaned. The button shank on my 15mm diameter buttons is 6mm with a hole running parallel to the button head. The washer has a serrated edge as well as teeth on the underside for gripping the fabric. Mine feel very secure and in fact the only way I could remove a washer once in place was to carefully snip the fabric on the top of the button and rip out it from under the washer, then slot a small screwdriver between the shank and washer and carefully prise it off.The instructions say to cut the circle slightly smaller for stretch fabrics, presumably so you can stretch it over the button for a smoother result. I was using stretch cotton jersey so I tried this, but it just distorted the pattern (which is why I had to remove the washer and start again). With a circle of the correct size it worked a treat. I like that no extra tools are required for these buttons and the very low price including free and very quick delivery. My 15mm buttons made a classy addition to my home-made dress.

Not good for me
Ordered thinking these were buttons with cover but not suitable for my purposes.

Who knew covered buttons were so easy!
These were a doddle to use! The measurement guide on the back for making the circle of fabric the right size is great (just remember to sellotape it before you cut it out as the packaging means there’s a cut in it). Not sure I’d like to use them on very easily frayed fabric or very thick fabric, but for polycotton and viscose they’ve been perfect.

As ordered
Love these, if there is a fault it is the circle on the back of packet used to cut out size of material to cover the button has a cut through it!
