Internal Green Water Killer Aquarium Filter Tank U-V Pump

This is a miracle pump. I've had aquariums on and off for the last 30 years and never have I seen this kind of algae bloom. I couldn't get rid of it. It was actually much worse than the "day 1" photo depicts. At the time I took that photo I had removed almost all of the decor due to having to do 50% water changes every 2 days. It was ridiculous. I didn't want to add chemicals that may or may not have harmed the poor fish that were already surrounded by horrible green algae ridden water. I did a lot of research online and this is the pump that was most recommended. After seeing a lot of photo reviews that greatly resembled my very green aquarium, I took a chance on it. I was extremely skeptical that a pump would eliminate the constant green water, but to my surprise it actually worked! I really wanted to do this review because nobody has mentioned using this pump for smaller aquariums. The listing for this particular pump says "for aquariums up to 75 gallons", it doesn't give specifics for small tanks; but I took a chance and tried it anyway as a last resort. My aquarium is a 5 gallon aquarium. They're very common in size and even 5 gallon aquariums can be subjected to the green water conundrum. This pump, even though it doesn't fit in my aquarium upright, it still fits lying down and is fully submerged. On day 1, I couldn't even see my fish unless they were at the front of the aquarium directly under the light. Day 2 wasn't really much different. I didn't think this pump would actually work, but by day three I could not only see the fish but I could also make out the heater on the back wall. My aquarium was clear enough by day 4 that I started moving my other aquarium decor back in. And on day 5 my aquarium was crystal clear. No green water, no traces of green water, and I can see everything in the aquarium including the wallpaper on the back wall. There were no chemicals added. I used this pump in my 5 gallon aquarium for 5 days and my water is more clear than it has been since this aquarium was established and cycled for the very first time. It's like a brand new aquarium and my fish are super happy. I don't know how or why this pump works, but it's pure magic. Having said that, this pump comes fully assembled. It includes oxygen tubing for aeration if you choose to do so. I didn't need the extra aeration so I didn't install that piece. It can be used 4-8 hours a day as the instructions suggest. I personally used this pump for 4 hours during the morning and again for 3-4 hours in the evening to get the results that I did. The results may vary given the size of your aquarium. I plan to leave this pump where it is for now. The instructions say once the water is clear you can reduce the time, so I'll leave it in the aquarium and gradually reduce the amount of time I use it. I did a 30% water change on day 5, AFTER that photo was taken and it was just to clean the gravel and debris from the standard aquarium filter. This green water killer pump is amazing and the results really do speak for themselves. I would have gladly spent twice as much money for the results that I got! It's truly unbelievable!! My fish are happy and their environment is healthy. I'd consider that a win! Highly recommend!!

I received this product on 3/19/25 and at the time of this review, 3/23/25, I have nothing but positive things to say. Was simple to put together, cleared my tank fast, and appears safe for my nano fish. I was a bit worried when I first put it in because the jet stream was pretty strong and was pushing my fish around but after changing it from the blue dial to the black bubble dial it worked great for my fish. I had tried everything short of blacking out my tank (which I didn’t want to do because my plants were doing so well and the tank is still in the process of cycling), I came across this product in a fish group on Facebook and it seemed like a great solution for a decent price. My fish have never been happier and I can finally enjoy my low iron tank! I still have some algae issues but this cleared up the green water perfectly! My only complaint is that it is moderately big, I was able to put it on the side of my 22 long but I could see the size being an issue in other tanks, I think this might fit a 10 gallon but I’m not sure if it could fit much smaller especially if there are things in the tank.

☆ I could barely see in my tank day 1 and after only 24 hours my tank was crystal clear! My tank was green and milky white.☆ This will *ONLY* clear water that goes INTO IT. Other reviews angry there is still algae on their hardscape or tank walls don't understand this. You need nerite snails and / or shrimp or yourself to scrape off algae you want gone.☆ It was easy to setup; literally just put it in your tank and plug it in.☆ My only complaint would be the size of it. I have a 29 gal tall tank and it takes up a lot of real estate inside the tank.

I had an algae problem in my tank, it was growing on the glass and I couldn't get it to go away, I finally got it to go away only for my water to turn green. We have no good fish store close by and the ones further out aren't good so I had no one to ask about it and was stumped. I did a search to see what I could do and it brought up this kind of filter. Even with the good reviews I was skeptical it would work, well, it surprised me by working very well! By the end of the first day it was noticeably less cloudy than it had been (had just cleaned it recently so wasn't back up to green yet, only cloudy heading towards green), the next day was harder to tell but it looked a bit better, by the end of the third day there was another noticeable difference and it just got clearer as it got closer to the 7 days it can take to work. Now my water is back to being clear, still have some algae growing on the glass but I'm hoping once I scrape it off it won't come back if I run this filter a few more days after that. But at least if I start having problems again I can use this filter to help out.

It made my aquarium clear for more than a month now. This is the only one that works for my aquarium. Cost effective and easy to use.

I didn't have huge hopes for this, but I saw it mentioned by one person in a post in a Facebook fishtank group, so I looked it up and thought for the price, I would give it a try as I have issues keeping my water as clear as I like. I have a 22 gallon tall tank in my home office, and it does get some sunlight in 2 directions from windows, so I fight algae blooms pretty frequently. I received this Friday afternoon, unboxed it, looked at the pictures on the instructions, shoved it in the tank and plugged it in. My water was pretty much green tinted and I couldn't see through to the plants and the back wall of the tank at that point. Today, 5 days later, my water is crystal clear. I did nothing else but let it run. The only thing that I wish was different about it, was that it was smaller. It does match the size described in the listing, but I didn't pay enough attention to it. I would like to leave it in my tank all the time, but the size does make it harder to conceal, and it takes up a lot of room in a smaller tank, but the tradeoff is well worth it. I would highly recommend this, especially for the price!
