Smoking Dryer - Burnt Motor - No Code - Only Humming and No Rotation of Drum
We turned on our 1-year-old dryer this weekend and unfortunately, the drum did not spin, and there were no error codes. There was a humming sound an a large cloud of white smoke coming from behind the unit from under the drum. I did some research and found out how to take apart the dryer and originally thought something might be on the heating element, or that the starter capacitor may have been bad. After tearing apart the dryer and testing if I could see where the smoke was coming from it was definitely under the drum but not apparent exactly where. The element was in good shape and everything was extremely clean and lint-free. I ended up ordering this motor on a whim that it might help fix the issue even though while installed the motor looked fine. After replacing the motor with this one, I could see the inside coil of the old motor was blackened and burnt and felt more optimistic this would resolve the issue. After reassembling the unit, and turning it on I was happy to find it did resolve the issue. Any motor where you buy it has a chance to fail after a short amount of time, however, I waited a longer shipping time to get one that may be made in Korea and closer to the OEM motor. The price between this one and another country of origin was only about a $5 difference. Disassembly took around 2 hours because I was also troubleshooting the issue, after getting the part putting things back together, and putting the new motor in only took around 20 minutes because I knew exactly where all the components went together. No extra hardware or parts when I was finished so I was happy about that. If the motor failed again; I would not hesitate to buy another one of these motors to fix the issue. The dryer itself was around $1,000 and I was happy to be able to repair it in overall under 3 hours for $90 was a great deal. Do not feel hesitant to attempt to do this repair yourself as long as you are extremely careful not to allow the sharp edges of the appliance to cut your hands when working, make sure the appliance is unplugged, and making sure you have a basic understanding of the electrical circuits not to harm yourself. I work on mechanical and electrical equipment all day long in automation so it may have been a lot easier for me with those skillsets just as a disclaimer. Be careful and be safe, hire a professional if you have any doubts. I've attached some photo's with blue arrows that show the burnt part of the motor, encase it is useful for someone else to confirm this motor will fix their issue. I've also attached a picture of the original motor plate, so people know if they have the same motor plate, this is a good replacement motor if your plate matches this one. All of these dryers despite if the way you select settings is touch or dial appear to be dissembled in the same standard that it looks like all dryers use, if you have a different dryer just take your time and watch lots of videos, but they are all extremely similar. Good luck with your repair! I don't typically write reviews but this specific project was a pretty nice personal win and this motor was great.

So far so good. Almost direct fit.
Updated 8/9/2023Everything is still working. I would add to check/replace the idler pulley/belt tensioner (spring loaded arm with white wheel) while you are in here as it's a high wear part. It is not expensive and will save you time and headache from replacing it later. Ours failed shortly after I replaced the motor. Our dryer is the DV42H5000GW/A3 model which I wasn't able to find that specific model. Everything matched up except the white nub on the belt side (red arrow). The original motor has a rubber ring instead of the plastic one. The original motor does have that plastic ring on the blower side whereas the new one has one on both. The way the mount was in the dryer, there was not a notch matching. I filed the nub down to properly fit the mount. After doing this, everything aligned properly and I was able to install it. Nearly having the thing completely apart did make for vacuuming everything very easy. Has been working so far for the last 3 or so weeks.

Great Product
Received the right part the first time I ordered it. Seems to be of great build quality. It came in triple packaged. I said it was an easy install because Ive had experience installing and taking apart parts in this dryer. It took me 20 min to take the washed apart install the part and get back together. I initially bought the belt tensioner and rollers from another supplier thinking that is what I needed because the tub wouldn't start spinning by itself but with help it would spin and finish the load. After replacing the motor they dryer runs great. Factory fit not modifications needed. Electrical connection hooked right up with no issue... Great product so far

Exactly as described.
I went with this motor due to it supposedly being an OEM part. It is exactly the same as the original motor that I took off of my dryer. Down to the sticker on it. I already had the dryer apart when the parts arrived, so all that I had to do was put it back together. 30 minutes later, the dryer was working perfectly. My wife is very happy. Good for me. I would recommend to anyone that needs a motor for their dryer to go with this company.

Great replacement Samsung dryer motor
This -55G motor is a direct replacement for the -55H, which was the original in our dryer. Perfect fit. Great Price! Very quick shipping through Amazon Prime. Easy install; about 1 1/2 hours without hurrying. Good instructions on YouTube or can find with google. Hardest part was moving the dryer out of the closet, and putting it back. Requires a phillips screwdriver (used a cordless) for most disassembly, and a large socket and wrench to remove reverse-threaded nut on motor shaft at fan end.Plugged it in and started right up! Fixed problem of dryer shutting of after approx 6 secs, and repeating this every approx 2 min until timer runs out. This is caused by defective centrifugal switch, which is NOT available separately, and requires buying the replacement motor to which the switch is attached. Highly recommend this, unless you like creating aggravation and hearing your laundry person rant!! A+++

Not sure if item is actually new
While the motor was sold as new, it did show some telltale signs that it had been previously installed. Nonetheless, it was an exact fit for the original at about 40% less cost than other on-line retailers. If you are an expert DIYer, it will take you about 2.5 hours to disassemble, install the motor, and reassemble the dryer. You'll find lots of videos on-line for how to do this replacement. You'll need a 14mm deep-well socket to remove the nut that holds the blower fan in place (I was lucky that my neighbor is a gearhead and he loaned me his). I installed this motor in an 10-year Samsung DV328AGW/XAA Gas Dryer.
