5 stars for quality; had to return it though because it sits too high for my fireplace.
This fireplace log grate is exactly as advertised. It is VERY heavy duty and will last years. I was trying to replace one that I had that lasted for 10 seasons of hard burning. But my existing one is 4" tall at the log support slats and this one is 5.5" high at he log slats. I ordered it knowing this was the measurement, but had hoped that maybe the actual log support slats sat lower. They do not. I have burned wood as a primary or secondary source of heat for 40 years. My experience is that wood burns best when it rests upon a bed of it's own ash/coals. The higher ones are only better for lighting and getting kindling going. In my present fireplace (that I have been using for 25 years) the fire will struggle for a day or two (until a bed of ash builds up again) if I remove too much ash under the grate. So, I returned this one because I knew it wasn't going to allow wood to burn efficiently in my particular situation. (If you read the reviews, you will find another reviewer used a grinder to lower the height of the legs). Back to the drawing board for me in my search for a super heavy duty fireplace grate that sits a bit lower. Sadly this company does not appear to make those.

Heavy duty.
We use in woodburning fireplace. This is thick metal, heavy. Perfect size. We have fire going all day in fireplace in winter, have had problems with previous grates melting down in the middle. This seems like it is built to last.

Great Construction however, small in size
I used the recommended size chart for my Fireplace. The only downside is that the logs will fall off of the side and sit and burn. So I find myself picking up small portions of log and putting it back onto the grate a lot.

Review: Long term use: Fireplace Grate
Excellent product. Does not bend. Thought it clunky at first, but after cleaning ashes out from under it... Superb!

Holding up fine
I burn roughly 3-5 nights a week for 3 months a year. This survived the first winter with no issues at all.

This is the one to get if you want a real grate!
We burn a fire every night and the grates other sellers offer are not made with 3/4" bar stock despite what they say. They use 1/2" stock but measure the diagonal from point to point to claim something near 3/4". It is not 3/4" and will not last a season for someone burning real fires. To the point of those who talk about keeping the coals between the bars, well, real woodfire makers know you need a good bed of ash to easily light and project heat from the fire. That and a large log in the back of the fireplace that is replaced every few days. This grate is excellent in all ways, it is even powder coated for an initial appearance, and for those who display white birch logs.

Measurements are deceiving.
The measurements are deceiving because they measure from the width of the legs which stick out much farther than the part that holds the wood.
